If your major considerations as solely speed and maintenance costs - get the Caddy. There is really no comparison between the Caddy and 996TT, built quality, reliability, fit/finish, materials used are worlds apart.

They are not. I also need comfort & bells & whistles.

care to share how the 996T makes itself worlds apart? The LSX engines have proven they are reliable.

I'd expect the Porsche to out handle the V. Would that be correct?
How do they compare in a straight line?
What options does the 996T offer compared to the V?
Would I be able to find such a 996T under $50k?

A quick google search I found this about the 2012 cts-v coupe.

In serious performance testing our automatic Coupe pretty much paced the hitherto quickest CTS-V sedan (a manual) on the drag strip, matching it to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds flat, then inching ahead a bit, clearing the quarter-mile in an identical 12.3 seconds at 117.7 mph -- seven-tenths ahead of the sedan (one automatic sedan managed a 117.9-mph trap speed, but took an extra tenth to get there). So the svelte coupe is arguably the quickest CTS-V, by a whisker.
I think that car with usaa discounts new is 63k. Very impressive. The 997.1 used will probably run you $75+ k. Stock with a manual I think the 997.1 runs a 3.8ish sec 0-60 and a 11.7 1/4 mile.

The math for a leased new car vs a loan for a used car should be worked out. Depending on lots of things one or the other can be a better deal long term.

The fact that you are comparing a z06 track monster vs a cts-v tells me you just want to go fast in a very straight line. You also seem to be shopping for the best bang for your buck in a straight line. Porsche isn't about that. These cars are hand made with only one robot putting the windshield into the car on the assembly line. They are crazy over engineered. That translates into something you won't find in sports car magazine numbers.

With the limited info you have posted you might also consider getting a mustang gt and slapping a super charger kit on it and be under $35k and save a lot of money.

Dude. Just about every question you asked can be googled. Zomg, dear google. What is the 1/4 time of a 996tt? Dear google what is the straight line performance of the cts-v? Dear google what options could I get on a 996tt? Or even search the 966tt sub forum (which we are not in) and see if anyone is crying about the navigation or if it even has nav D;

Dear auto trader: How much does a 996 turbo, years 05-06 with less than 40k miles cost?

Just about everything you have asked can be googled.

Your initial question of
Looking for a new car. It was between 2009/10 GT-R, used C6 Z06 & new CTS-V. Should I consider a 997 Turbo?
Was a reasonable forum question. As it is very subjective and a lot of people will have different opinions about it. Those opinions could be insightful. All of those cars could be in the same ball park with price and performance.

With your current criteria for a 997 tt is not for you and a 996 tt is also probably not going to meet your expectations also.

I mean really. Things like comparing a 2012 caddy's interior to an 06 996 tt is just going to be unfair. Especially if you a looking to lease vs own because its a lower month to month payment. You are going to end up comparing apples to cantaloupes.

Not spending $75k on a used car at this time.

Already done. The payments end up being about the same. I don't keep cars long so may as well go with a brand new car leased.

One last time, no.

No thank you. I've already owned 4 Mustangs. Been there done that.

I want something fast that can turn from the factory. The whole point of spending this kind of $ is b/c I won't need to go mod crazy to truly enjoy the car.

Feel free to ask me questions rather than assume what I want.

Really??? just buy the Cadillac and end this painful thread.
Agreed painful...

Though I may have learned something - Call me naive but I had no idea the CTX-V was a contender from a speed stand point. I wonder if the V comes in an AWD version.. I'll have to check, could be my winter beater ride.

OP, IMO a p-car is far too unique to compare objectively. Good Luck

With all due respect, you should be asking the questions rather than sitting back with the "hit me with it" attitude. We dont need to ask any questions. You supply data, and in return get opinions. Subjective opinions. Which are like a$$holes: everybody has one (Clint Eastwood I believe said that)...

I see a common denominator in most threads above. You cant compare a 911, they are special cars, you need to want a 911 to get a 911, not a sports car that drives fast -straight or not makes no difference.

I sugget you drive one. Drive a $50k 996. Then drive a $75k 997. Then repeat to convince yourself, "I wont spend $75k on a used car". Then drive the CTSV. And make up your mind. Find which car ticks your boxes, not other people's boxes. But drive them. Dont google them, dont read about them. Drive them.

Good luck.

Cts-v

If you are looking for a painful experience then buy the CTS-V THE NEW CADDYS are nightmares, all of them.Im in dealers all day long all over the place & the TECHs are ones telling me this. You will become good friends with advisors of the local cadillac dealer.IF you want a reliable well rounded rocket buy the porsche & the ZO6 is right behind it.
The Porsche has great comfort, options,& performance.I love it.
