Should I consider a 997 Turbo?
Looking for a new car. It was between 2009/10 GT-R, used C6 Z06 & new CTS-V.
I ruled out the GT-R after I drove the Z06. Now it is between the V & the Z06. I would drive the V daily & not bother with a 2nd car. I would obviously have a daily driver for crap weather & winter if I got the Z06 as I live in PA.
Should I include the 997 Turbo in my search? Not really interested in a non-turbo Porsche.
If so, what pricing am I looking at for a 2004+ 997T? What issues are these cars prone to? It would be my daily driver through all seasons.
Also, I understand it's not going to come with maintenance prices of a Chevy, but just how expensive are we talking here?

Porsche turbo is a great car - 997 turbo wasn't introduced until model year 2007. I drive mine 3 days a week and have had no problems (08 with 25,000 miles). I've had a C6 (non-Z06) and it was too noisy and too much heat in the ****pit. The C6 looks so much bigger than the 997 but they are really about the same size.

If money is no object, get the 997. Additionally, I think a 997 Porsche turbo is too nice to drive daily so If you are like me, you'd have to get another car to drive in bad weather, etc.
If money is an issue, or just prefer not to spend $80,000-110,000 for the 997 turbo, I would suggest getting a used C6 ZO6 and a second car.

Get the 997TT and use it as a daily driver. It is a car. Get a beater to driver on the snowy/icey days. 2007 and up Turbo is a very nice and solid car. Has some room in the back for small kids and/or groceries.

If you're comfortable doing so, share the price range you're looking at. I'm sure those on here who have extensive experience with so many cars will throw out some suggestions. The 996 turbo is a very strong car too and worth looking into. If you're not soley looking for high HP, then you may consider a 997 911S/4S, which also are great cars.

What are the differences between the 997T & 996T? If anything is slower than the new CTS-V I would pass.
After having owned three C6 versioned Vettes (including an '07 Z06) and a 996TT and having driven a CTS-V --- I would buy a 996TT over the other cars you are considering without batting an eye (assuming you are not going to get a 997TT).

There are many differences between the 996 & 997 models, aside from HP. That being said, and as another member pointed to, the 996 is still a great car and offers awesome performance.
What's most important to you? I know you mentioned if it's slower than the V you'll take a pass.
Something you may know or not know, the 996/997 turbos are very mod friendly. While a 996 turbo may not take the V stock vs. stock, I know a lightly modded one would suprise you.
Have some fun searching the forums, you'll find lots of informaion about various comparos.

With that said, it still needs to be reliable as a daily driver.
Really??? just buy the Cadillac and end this painful thread.
Thanks for chiming in. I like to turn to. However, my current car runs 12.9 so I want something faster or I may as well stick with what I have & go mod crazy.
