Front LED lights not avail for Turbos?

Read my manual and can't seem to find a way to illuminate my front LED lights like I see other 911s.

I'm referring not to the driving lights which I can flip on/off using onboard computer setting but the two jewel face horizontal strips just below the main lights. It's the pair that also blink orange when I turn on my hazard blinkers.

Am I just confused or do new turbos not have the ability to light those front LED/jewel cover lights with bright white light like regular 997.2 Carrerras?

Are you referring to the "blade" lights in the front intakes? I'd like to know about this too.

Yes. Can see it in my avatar photo - the blade/led/whatever name in the air intake

Called my salesman and he says turbos don't/can't light those up with white light, just used as orange hazard blinkers. Anyone able to confirm?

I keep thinking his many times sales guys have been wrong.

First gen 997TTs have no DRLs. Second gen 997TTs have fogs that act as DRLs. The LED turn signal cluster serve as turn signals only.

As Bob replied, on the 997.1 TT (07, 08 and 09) the LED's are for turn signals only. There are options though - here's one:

As stated the 997.2 TT(S) changed the fog lights to LED DRLs. The LED strip remains as a turn signal indicator that flashes orange. I was somewhat disappointed in this. I was hoping for lights like the standard 997.2.

I can't remember who it was, but someone offered a kit where they changed out the LED bulbs in your assembly, so they would be bright white DRL's for normal use, then switch to orange when turn signals are activated. Maybe someone else remembers who did it.

SpeedArt is the only one that I am aware of that does a LED swap...for $$$$$$$. TA and VividRacing have some other options.

Darn. Thanks all

I guess it's one tiny regret compared to the otherwise huge wow getting into my first turbo

Looks like the normal day run lights in corners - the round ones - are standard bulbs. Will have to see if I can get white/xenon versions

Maybe if the city lights were used. The LED's run cooler than OEM - I've not had any "melting".

Original LEDs they offered ran hot - they changed the LED type and design and the temperatures are no longer a problem. If I recall, Jason had the purchase and pay the cost of the new cluster, and there was no warning from Hoen that the original style LEDs should not have been used for that particular application.

LEDs never ran hot, the city light bulb ran hot but those were not designed for this housing. City lights are for headlights where more airspace is. Only an LED is used in this turbo housing and it runs cooler than the factory bulb.

Unfortunately, Hoen made no mention that these bulbs couldn't be used for that purpose when they were available on their website. As I recall, the only way that people would know that they couldn't be used was because Jason reported it here.
