Tiptronic and PDK

Is tiptronic just your usual automatic gearbox like my merc? Whereas the PDK being an automatic dual clutch like an M3 DCT.

When did they switch from tip to pdk in UK?

Correct. Dunno about UK but US was 2010 for turbos and 2009 for the others.
