Ok guys, I have sold my lovely 997 Turbo Convertible and the buyer will pick her up on Tuesday. I'm selling because I will be moving back to Denmark in Jan.
The reason for the following story is to get you all feel a little better (and for me to ***** a little bit)...
We all think our Porsche(s) and maybe other exotics are an expensive hobby but listen to this. In Denmark we have 180 % luxury tax on cars - yes 180 % - and on top of this we have 25 % sales tax - yes 25 %.
Now I'm selling my mint 2008 997 Turbo Convertible with less than 18K miles for 85K.
So will I get another 997 Turbo Convertible when I move back home? - unfortunately not.
Just did a little search and found a 2008 997 Turbo Convertible with around 35k miles for sale at DKR 2.095.000 - in USD this would be around 403.000.
So it will take me USD 318.000 MORE then the 85.000 I'm getting on Tuesday to continue being a 997 Turbo Convertible owner....
Life sucks - I'm gonna miss that car SO bad
Hopefully this lille story makes you all appreciate the American car prices a little more now.
I will continue to follow this site so I can dream back to the happy days as a 997 Turbo owner.
Cheers guys & happy Thanksgiving

Yes, without any problem...I will just have to pay the taxes when the car arrives...
Trust me, there is no way around the tax system

Is there a chance your take home salary over there will increase commensurately to offset at least some of the monumental cost(s)?

Also we pay USD 8,37 for a gallon of gas.
Isn't Norway even worse? My relatives are visiting from Sweden as we speak... I have not shopped this much in my life and I am afraid they will need a 40" container to ship even half of what they acquired. Off shopping again...
