TTS vs ZR1?

I should mentian that the ZR1 was almost brand spanking new and the driver not really used to the car. the last race is the best from the vettes perspective.

I drove my TT-S and ZR1 (with Caravaggio seats) back to back over the long weekend. Temps finally dipped into the 50s here yesterday, which made the ZR1 that much more challenging to try and hook up in 1st/2nd gear.
The 911 is, of course, much more point and shoot, and with the GIAC tune, it is a rocket. As others have said, it will take the ZR1 a LONG time to catch it. With my tune/catback, it might never relinquish the lead to my ECU-only ZR1.
Having said that, for just moderately enthusiastic driving, the instant, lag free V8 torque and super smooth 6 speed shifter and clutch are very rewarding, whereas the PDK/H6 combo feel and sound somewhat pedestrian. Until you happen to hammer it. ;-)
Ride quality between the two is similar....the Chevy's magnetic ride suspension is very civilized, and when I ditch the 20" run flats for proper 19" performance rubber, traction and ride will further improve.
The Caravaggio seats are equal to the stock adaptive sport seats in the Porsche........the PCM is far superior to the Vette's antiquated nav unit, but the HUD in the Vette is a nice touch, esp with the g-meter display.
Both cars are extremely rewarding to drive, and could not be more different in the way they make me smile. Only one car has leather wrapped A/C vent slats, though! ;-)

nice car collection doc - Caravaggio's shop is 15 minutes from my home. I was there once with my buddy who had a vette.
I always wondered how I'd fare from a roll with a ZR1. I've got upgraded vtgs/ics/clutch/tune. Only once did I come across a ZR1 but it wasn't a good stretch of highway for any antics.

The easiest way to understand this, the ZR1 will be a driver car, drive it right great times, drive it wrong and a 13 sec time will follow! PDK if you do lauch properly, your daugeter could do it, 10.8-11.2 times every time
I have had the Callaway 606 and now a Turbo PDK, two diffrent cars, and wll Take the Porsche every day all these cars are capable of incredible acceleration past bragging rights, it just favors to each is own!

It would be interesting to see what John C would do with an adaptive seat or our steering wheels. Take a look at some of this...........................

I have a 09 ZR1 and love it., all 15,000 smiles I have put on. The seats are not the best for racing but comfortable for driving. It is so fast and powerful and yet could be a better supercar if it had AWD...what a package it would be. I am looking for a turbo now to go with it, probably a 993...great combo..
I second that, both are great cars.
With that being said, I rode in a 997.1 GT3 at the track and after 5 different vettes, I can say I might be converting soon. There is no match for the raw power, bang for the buck factor you get with vettes but a rear engine, nicer interior and refinement holds more weight. Wish I could own both.

The first item you purchase for a vette (with 500 WHP+) are Nitto NT05R's. After that you are golden up to 900 WHP (with some modulation). I had a Z06 with ~900WHP and 825FT# and boy it was a blast. From 100+ it was relentless pushing you back until ~ 190MPH. What a blast
. Also had 3.73:1 rather than 3.46:1. I know who has her and would love to buy her back. This is why vettes are fun: http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=381234
I thought about a Z06 (still do). Great bang for the buck, easy to mod, looks and sounds mean. I finally got my wife to go for a test drive in one a few months ago and at the end she said "nice car, I'd rather you get a Porsche".
