New 991S faster than a 997TT?!?!
It is a BIG factor. Look at every single car magazine in the world, and quotes are always first: 0-60 or 0-100
997TT.2 - everyone talks about how fast it is 0-60 in 2.8, or a Veyron, 0-60 in 2.5/2.6
When another car is faster than our own 997TT.1, you can choose to just ignore it and pretend it's no longer an important factor, but it is.....
Fact is, for 99% of "spirited" driving in North America, 0-60 is the performance benchmark as it is not realistic nor easy to do 60-130 or even 0-160 on any road, public or private.
If true, it's impressive what Porsche has done withe the 991S.

Veyron is 0.4 sec quicker that koenigsegg agera r in 0-60 but the second is 4 secs faster on 0-200
. So which one you think is faster? Not to mention lap times...0-60 may give you some indication but believe me, is practise may mean nothing
Guys, just read the new Motor Trend or Road and Track, can't remember which one, but they tested the new 991S with PDK/Launch Control:
0-60 in 3.5!?!?!?! How is that possible?
That's faster than a stock 6MT 997TT.1 (0-60 in 3.7)
With the mods on my 997TT, I am probably runnning about 550hp, and I don't know if I can even do 0-60 in 3.5, unless I shift perfectly.
I am indeed looking foward to seeing what the 991TT can do........

Here in North America, the most common performance benchmark that is achievable and testable is the 0-60 and is what most people use to test/judge their cars against others out on public roads. It's what 99% of all of us have done at some point at a red light....admit it or not.

If true, it's impressive what Porsche has done withe the 991S, in that it performs as well (0-60) as the "top dog" 997 series Turbo (6MT)

the magazine tests also usually use the "roll-out" in their calculations which starts the clock later. The initial test done by C&D or MT on the 997.1 TT had a 0-60 of 3.2s in cold temps.
3.7 is the porshe est time. A few auto rags did it 3.1 for the tip and 3.4 mt. I still don't understand the gearing...1st is really short and the shift eats up time. I bet a 2nd gear drop with a better clutch would yield low 3/high2 in a mt? All other cars with this kind of HP do over 60 in 1st.
There are plenty of cars at a fraction of the Porsche cost and design that can win in a straight line, but few designed this well all around with this kind of numbers.
I hope it does do zero to 60 in the time suggested. Sounds like the 991S is a fantastic car and I'm sure those making the purchase are very excited.
Doesn't change how I feel about the turbo though. IMO the "turbo" is a special car that goes far beyond 0-60... where it may lag in some areas it more than compensates in others... it's the "turbo".

I passed him with 150 kmh when he tried to reach me. I was doing 180 to 250 for about 10 miles keeping a steady distance all the time. It was awesome, no 0-60 and **** like that, just torque...
