Dyno results...

Hi bros speeders,

I can't understand some dyno results here:

My 993TT has been dyno tested on several dynos (Dynojet, Cartec, Superflow, Bosch and Maha) (my 997TT only on Superflow).
I noticed with no mods between the tests the power results were between 553chp (Superflow) and 576chp (Bosch), so very close.
That means about 480whp, Ok.

The car performs 100-200 in 7.2' (4rth +5th), 100-300 in 29.5' (Vbox file available), and kills a little bit a 997.2TTS after 200kph side by side.

I read here power like 800whp or so, do you really know what does it mean such a power?
I wonder if some does not amalgam the both measures whp and chp?

Example:

On U-tube (M5 board) you can see a guy with a Switzer R911 feeded with C16 performing 11.7' from 200 to 300 alone and 13.8' with 2 persons in. (great times indeed, my 997 best time alone in is 15' with 660chp dynoed)

A member here (GT-TT) sent us a video with 2 persons in (Skand' was the second person) where his 997 performs 200-300 in 11.7'.

The R911 C16 feeded is given for 911chp, GT-TT's 997 was dynoed 741chp... (on the dyno which gave my 993 576chp)

Karol's car performs 200-300 in even better times with 780chp, so "poor" 660whp... (lol)

How can we understand this?

(all times V-box tested)

Pascal it is best to compare dynos done on the same car and the same dyno to distinguish the effectiveness of mods. It is very hard to compare different cars on different dynos because there is so much variation possible. A dyno operator can make the numbers do anything they want to by feeding in the variables for temp, humidity, altitude, etc.

Also another difficult factor in comparing higher speed runs (>200kph) is aerodynamics plays such a huge role in the outcome. Ride height, rake, spoilers can alter significantly the aerodynamic drag necessary just to push the car at a static speed so that two 911 bodies may have 100 hp difference required in drag over 200 kph. Also, no one measures wind during these runs. A run into a 30kph wind vs a 30kph tailwind is a huge change in run times when over 200 kph. We have never tried to account for wind in these runs as no one has access to the necessary equipment. We can account for incline/decline by the GPS and discredit runs outside certain "flatness".
