New 997.1 Turbo Owner - Hi and Thank You
Welcome.
Nice color combo! I am a bit partial as you can see. Love the black wheels too
Mine is Meteor grey, but I love the hue of the slate grey, congrats.

Here are a few things you can do to the rear to match up your beautiful black wheels: Rear script turbo in satin black (DYI or from Eric @ bumperplugs - thanks Eric) and ceramic coated tips...

I just pulled the trigger on a 2008 Turbo and wanted to thank all of you for helping with the decision. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to own a Turbo, so I deliberated quite a bit before finding the right one.
I've been a long-time lurker here and the advice that I found searching the forums on everything from the DME to reliability and potential mods was invaluable (as an side, I think I started buying car parts before I actually signed to buy the car).
Thanks everyone!

Love the contrast of the grey, black and yellow !
Thanks all for the warm welcome.
Dianic: I love it--that is a mean-looking ride! You and the previous owner of my car must have the same tastes, because I think he already got the tips coated. The Quad pipes look pretty mean on yours--are those the Dectane LEDs that you are running? They look pretty awesome. Here's a pic of what the previous owner did to the tips (excuse the dirt everywhere--the Porsche dealership stores cars on its rooftop since it is downtown and they end up getting covered in snow and "city dust"):

Vaportrail: Congrats on your 997.1! For my first mod, I'm going to replace the H&R springs and stock shocks with a set of PSS10 Damptronics (and increase ride height maybe 10 mm or so) as I work and drive a lot in the City and the ride-height clearance is going to be an issue. Second mod I am debating is the Dectane LEDs (similar to what Dianic has)--What about you? Any mods planned?

I'm with you on the ride height. My spoiler (and the one on every car I looked at) is damaged. I'd hate to make that problem worse. So far I'm happy with the ride quality, although a ride in a Bilstein equipped car would probably change that.
Right now, I'm sticking with basics. One of the cars I didnt buy had the 'thicker steering wheel' option and I loved it. So, my current wheel will get upgraded or replaced. Also working out bluetooth / aux input options. It looks like I'll go with the Denison option from bumperplugs.com
Once my CPO is up in a year, I'll go with exhaust and a tune--something to look forward to.
Other than that I need to stop working so damn much so I can actually put this car to use.
My car came with the "thicker wheel" upgrade, but I can't really see the difference between it and the stock wheel.
One of the other Turbos I looked at had a Techart steering wheel which is supposed to be even thicker than the Porsche upgraded wheel, but I can't say that I'd prefer it to the stock wheel (I am coming out of a 996 Carrera though, so maybe that is why).
Re: Denison--if you get it put in, let me know how you find it--I was looking at the same thing last night and was leaning towards the Tooki (but then it is the price of doing the Dectane LEDs). In prioritizing, I figured that the benefit of doing LED tails instead of the Bluetooth is that (a) they look cool and (b) without the integrated BlueTooth, my place of work will have a harder time getting ahold of me (leaving me more time to enjoy the car)!

The lights on the pic are the Rotec lights. Very similar to Dectane, slightly larger clear/white lens in the middle.
Here is a pic that shows the subtle difference.

Silver car in the middle has dectane, my car on the outer corner has Rotec.
Check out the difference in offset on your rear wheel vs mine, I am running 15mm spacers, will be changing them to 10 or 11 depending on what I can source. I think your rear wheels need to come out a bit more...

Its a slippery slope they say... Welcome once again.

2008 too
I am new to the forum and just want to say congrats. I have owned my 2008 997 TT since December 2010. I drive it all year round. Wife and I drove to Maine and back in February 2011.
Just had the FabSpeed air intake system installed. Much smoother transition into boost. Sounds nice too.

OK. Mod bug in full swing:
PSS10s installed and I got I mounted my summer wheels and tires (a couple of buddies convinced me to go for more "bling" on the wheels and to move away from the blacked-out wheels look). Jury is still out on the polished lip and exposed hardware look, but the car is running smooth.

congrats i love it with the stock wheels looks mean ......Dianic how did you DIY the Emblem while ,being able to reinstall it ? i wanted to paint mine but seemed like a paint in the Butt to cut and line up the original tape ..
Which emblem? the turbo script? I bought from Eric @ bumperplugs. Was worried that DYI'ing the chrome par would flake and pi$$ me off. They do sell a primed paintable version of the turbo script however, you just have to paint it yourself. Getting rid of the old one with a hairdryer and some dental floss or fishing line is easy. Removing some of the old gunk that is left on there is not that easy - people in the US use smth called goo-be-gone? We dont have it here... To line up again shouldnt be hard as long as you dont buff and wax the area after cleaning, on my car there was a trace...
Now, if you refer to the emblems on the wheels, here is the tutorial:
click

Finally, if you refer to the emblem that goes on the hood, I have yet to install it... Returned it for an exchange, it was for the wrong hood... That is sandblasted and painted flat black and baked....

:-)
