I did a WOT pass on Father's Day Weekend with my LS tips and blew 104.9! Clear sky's and 80ºF+.

4 weeks prior, I got Black Flagged on my second out lap of the morning while the temps were around 46ºF, overcast sky's, and the track was damp with my stock OEM tips trying to stay under 4k!

Sorry to hear of your incident, "Gentlemen's Rule" should have been enforced by the organizers. Sorry you had to take it in the a.. as well.

I once saw a $12,000 914 A$$ PACK a $750K Ferrari GTO on the same corner. Lets just say things got rather ugly in the paddocks.

footnote: this was in the early 90's so I'm not quite sure what 1970 GTO's were going for at that time. I do recall hearing $500K though...

One of my favorite tracks -- which has saved me some money by forcing me to be a little careful with any mods that would increase sound . All the info here is correct. Be sure to ask for a "sound check" lap which won't count against you for the 3 strikes. You'll be able to get a sense of how close you are to the limit and how much you might have to adjust.

Also -- if you're making the drive all the way from Calgary -- I'd recommend that you look into whether there are any events at Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon, formerly Sears Point), which is just North of SF. It's also a great track (much more relaxed sound constraints) and the driving is quite different from LS.

*** Update: Just checked the schedule and if you're coming out to LS for the weekend of Aug. 24-26, that's the same weekend that Indy is running at Sonoma.

POC will be there that same weekend. I am building my second exhaust to meet the 92db restriction, so if I were you I would call a couple of aftermarket shops like GMG, EVOMS etc and see if they have any used 997 stock exhausts they want to sell.
I bought one from GMG about 6 mos ago for my TT to get it to pass emissions, I think I paid about $2,000.

I'll be car #124 a white 997 Cup S in the garages, stop by and say hi.

Sound ok

Sorry I missed you but hope you had a good time. I (car 345) was the third garage from the restroom (forget the number, 76?).Keeping it in 4th, not gearing down for turn 5, and stepping on it 1/2 up the hill worked for me - no sound issues at all! Good idea re 2nd hand stock muffer - somebody should rent used OEM muffers for a week for us!
Maybe see you at Buttonwillow or Auto Club Speedway this summer.
