Looking for TT Info.

I am getting the itch for a new car. I have been looking at GTR,Jag and the Porsche Turbo. The P car is where I think I will be heading. I am thinking about a 2010 or 2011 with PDK, Is there any things I should be looking for or info I should know before hand? are these good years for the TT? I have only had 1 P car and that was a 2010 Carrera. I really want something quick and handles well. I am not looking at the S as that is a little out of my price range. Also what is a good price on a 10 or 11 with PDK and low miles? Thanks for any info you may have..

If a manual is out of the question, then the 2010-11 TT with PDK is an awesome car. I would take it over a GTR or a Jag assuming you are going to keep the car you get stock. If you are going to modify the car then the Turbo or the GTR, but personally I would still take the Turbo.

If you are entertaining manual transmissions go for a 2007-09 Turbo which has the Mezger engine. Good luck in your search.

I would try to swing a somewhat higher mileage 2010 TTS. I haven't driven a 997 Gen II TT (2010-->), but my reading leaves me with the impression that (taking the PDK out of the equation) the non-S is not noticeably faster than the Gen I TT. If this is true--and it may not be--then I would suggest your choice should be between a low mileage 2009 TT (Gen I with newer PCM) and a Gen II--simply for the PDK.

In other words, as with the first reply, I wouldn't buy a Gen II non-S, unless I just had to have the PDK. If you don't have to have the PDK, then you can get the same amenities, with the known to be highly tunable and rock solid Mezger in the 2009--for less.

Having said that, the suspension is said to be improved on the Gen II also, but this item seems secondary in most discussions to the PDK, and the ongoing debate about whether the newer Gen II engines are likely to be as good/reliable/robust/etc. as the Mezger engines in the Gen I. There is no denying that costs have been cut in the production of the newer engines, but to what extent the cost cuts will ultimately matter to consumers--particularly those who don't tune their cars--remains to be seen.

If you've got to have the PDK, then consider upping your mileage limit to see if you can swing a 2010 TTS--that's what I would do.

Check out my guide for other details on buying. I agree on 09 for manual or newer years for PDK.
