Should I worry about 'high' mileage on a .1 TT?
I bought my '08 TT two years ago. It had 6600 miles and CPO. It now has over 34,000 miles. The garage link transmitter was defective, but replaced under warranty. Other than that, routine maintenance. Getting ready to put new shoes on it. They should arrive today. Paid $92,000. Listed for $132,000 new.
The thing with high milleage cars is that most of the parts have high milleage too and would need to be changed soon (shocks, brake rotors, bushings, coils, spark plugs etc) and at the end after changing all these parts you don't save that much money.
All these low turbo prices are great news for Buyers but what aout the Trade-iners. They get ripped off big time. Strange these expensively built cars sre targeted for the same % depreciation as considerably less expensive cars (<$35K). Strange, one would think the % depreciation would be less if these expensive cars are built better to last longer, but that would mean fewer big-bucks going to the dealers.

I am thinking that you want to approach this issue in the different way IF you plan to track AND if you plan to make some mods to improve the trackability of the car. So, first rule in or out that requirement. If you want to make that car very good on the track, you need to look for a car that has the work done ie modded with that purpose in mind and that would become your MAJOR objective to find the correct modded car. Doing that would save you BEAUCOUP BUCKS If that is not what you want to do and you are just looking for a stock 997T I would go for the youngest car I could find with the Mezger engine, not necessarily the lowest mileage all things equal. Look for the right options, get the solid PPI done and drive the pants of it. Most likely, you will be pushing the brake before the car is out of guts!!! LOL
If the car is in excellent condition and proprely maintained, the mileage shouldn't be a huge factor.
I got my 07 with 36k miles for $70k a year and half ago. I've got 41k miles on it now. It was a hell of a deal. They wanted $75k but I saw that it was on the lot for 6 months and they kept lowering the price. Apparently forest green and its grey interior where a real turn off to people because it wasn't silver or red with black interior.
Its funny I've been to so many Porsche meets and people come up to me all the time asking me what color it is and tell me how awesome it looks and how unique it is
