Brake pad sensors

I'm going to be switching back and forth for pads for DEs. I can see these sensors being a PITA. What's the best way to disable them? I have durametric, I also read you can just loop it. Does that mean just attached the the 2 wires together and zip tie somewhere?

Also the rear brake pads are stuck to the pistons, looks like piston has a small shim( on top) and then the big shim on the pad. Can I separate the the piston from the big shim and leave that on the brake or do I have to take the big shim off?
I left the big shim on the front brakes as I will be just putting them back after my DE.

Thanks
