Sorry to hear about this... I really hate hearing these stories but makes me appreciate my dealer even more. I grew up in McLean... I'll be sure to spread the word about this dealership to friends and family.

That said, if they're not going to do the right thing, I'd let it drop. I wouldn't waste any more time or emotional energy on this. Get a set of bumper plugs and enjoy your car... don't let this get you down and take away from the experience. In fact, if this happened to me, I'd much rather put in a set of bumper plugs than have a new bumper painted and installed... chances are it wouldn't be equal to the original anyway.

they are going to weasel their way out of this. since you have no proof that you requested the tow hook option, i don't think you have a case to take them to court. you should note the names of the people you talked to. they probly won't stand up for you though.

next time, do a little research before you rely on the dealer. if they have a part you need, i would have just picked it up from parts instead of having them "install" it. i have found some porsche dealer to be great and some are careless. you should research for opinions before you need service again.

Since you do want plates, just leave it. those tow hook options don't look good anyways. i personally would have left without plates, but if they come drilled, i am not going to remove it.

good luck!

G/L to the OP.
Excellent. That's exactly what I meant.

The "patch, fill, and paint" offer wasn't that bad. I know its not what you wanted to hear. However, they would have feathered in the work/paint/finish and I highly doubt you would be able to see the repair work. Keep in mind when ordering a new bumper, it will not come finished, it will need prep, primer and paint. Odds are that new bumper will stick out like a sore thumb with its non-factory paint job and you will find numerous flaws in the workmanship (paint finish). I don't think you'll be happy.

You should have ordered the tow hook bracket online and been done with it. Not sure about Virginia, but here in California we have 30 days to resolve "fix-it" tickets.

I know this sucks, best of luck.

Well, yeah, in hind-sight.

I do this crap myself. If it doesn't need a drill, that means I can do it. If drill is required, I make somebody else do it.

I feel for you and the Porsche dealers like all dealers are basically "used car salesmen". I would pursue it through PCNA (though they are about as useful as a wet cigarette butt) as well as the general manager at the dealer. Don't forget that you should receive a customer satisfaction survey, if you don't absolutely demand it and ding them on that. The BBB is also a good way to go.

Also, get a couple/few estimates and sue them. It's cheap to do (but a pain) and it will go on the record.

I have pretty much found that dealers are at best only able to do run of the mill stuff. If you go veer off of that even by a bit find yourself a reputable independent shop.

Good luck with this.

This sucks however pick your battles is my advice. They can patch and paint and you wont be able to tell the difference nowadays.

Then tell them to throw in a free oil change and be done with them!

Today I received a call from Chad the service manager. He stated that he had read this thread and was extremely sorry to hear how things have turned out. He went on to say that they had a staff meeting regarding the "miscommunication" would be happy to replace my bumper. He has ordered one which should arrive Tuesday/Wednesday then be painted&baked promptly.

Pending results I hold no grudge; I'm glad that the mistake has been taken care of and we can all be friends again.

Sorry to hear about this. Dealers are slime, as a rule. Every dealership I ever go to, I always feel like I need a bath afterwards to get the slime off of me. People in general that will step up when they screw up are rare. I know the way I think in these situations. A strong sense of justice drives me to take it all the way until there is nowhere else to go. Do all you can, but then forget about it. It's frustrating, but in the big picture it's small potatoes. My wise father would tell you "you learned a cheap lesson." Find a good shop you can trust, and never go back to a dealer unless there is no other way. ...my best advice.

Is he cool? Or is he just doing damage control?

I'll reserve judgment based on your feedback. Unfortunately, we can't tell the difference. We've ALL learned, though, don't believe a thing that person told you about the NOT-drilling part, whoever that idiot was.

I think you are overreacting. Tysons corner has been very good to me. And to be honest they did what Porsche does. The plate bracket does not go in the toe hook area. IT goes where they put it.

The fact you got a new bumper from Chad just shows what a great team they have there. Peter is an awesome guy as is the rest of the staff.
I am glad you got what you wanted but I think that goes to the quality of the service guys there.
