Porsche of Tysons wrecked my new 997 Turbos bumper!!!
I bought a tow hook bracket for my '09 from my dealership... they even offered to install it, but I did it myself. (I know, weird right??)
If I had a conversation at the parts counter about a tow hook plate and then came back to have something done to my car that I didn't ask for, I'd be pissed as well. How pissed? Well, not to the point of asking for a new bumper but I'm not going to sit here and say that someone else shouldn't be that angry.
You could always get some bumper plugs from Eric, prepainted, 2 seconds to install.
Funny, I had them drill and attach brackets on all three of my last turbos. Never thought twice about it. But, like I said a resprayed mumper probably kills the value worse than a set of plugs/bracket.
Personally, I'd let them know I was pissed, but let them do whatever they are willing to do and take it in stride. **** happens, you probably will need their goodwill in the future, don't sweat the small stuff.

Yes, it is a common misconception of people who get on boards like this that parts and service employees at the dealership stay up on aftermarket products discussed on the web. Many of them don't. I'm surprised that you would ask a dealer for a "no drill plate holder" and not know that Porsche doesn't make one. Likewise, everyone knows that dealerships are limited in the non-OEM products that they sell, and the burden should have been on you to more clearly describe what you are asking for. Are you aware that there are not only plates that screw into the tow hook, but there are also no-drill plate holders that clamp onto the bumper? Which no-drill plate did you ask the dealer for?
he did know because he was told in the thread he introduced his car in.
I have no front plate on my Black TT and I pass FCPD( fairfax county PD) all the time. Never been pulled over
Porsche of TC replaced my spoiler on the way there I got a 1200$ rock chip on my windshield by a moron driving on the shoulder. So the rocks flying from the road will ruin your new bumper much worse than the two holes you got drilled.
I love how your 2 drilled holes would be acceptable if you were GIVEN a clear bra. How about you bought a bracket, for a plate that is required by law in your state and you dont get something for free because someone drilled two tiny holes in your bumper. Sue them and watch the small claims arbitrator laugh you into the street.
I sure hope they tell you to get lost when you bring your modified car for them to work on. Seeing I don't need to go back there. Porsche of TC will work with you on modifications, they will install parts, and if the car is in "stock condition" regardless if one of their techs just put it there they will honor the warranty. So I hope Chad reads this and refuses to work on your car.
Again, you are overreacting, you were told about the bracket told that it wasnt OEM, yet you asked for the stock bracket and bashed the dealer for doing what they were supposed to with the part that is OEM.
So I hope you are so proud you showed this dealer what is what and got your free bumper. I am sure the clear bra would have been as good.

I think if you can answer that, we can all get on the same page.
I contemplated getting my bumper completely resprayed when I decided to have the unsightly front plate mount holes filled. I used Bumper Plugs for my truck(white) and felt it was acceptable. On my Spyder I couldn't put the plugs on because it looked like two little warts. I had the paint/body guy from Chantilly Range Rover(Chris) fill and paint the holes. He did a great job for $120 and was able to blend the paint to the original color and only painted two "dime-size" areas on the front bumper. When I sell my car and someone uses a paint meter to check for respray I'm pretty sure my bumper will still register as original paint, unless they hit the two tiny fill spots. If I went with a respray on the entire bumper, my explanation would always be met with suspicion. I took a hit on my MB CL when I traded it because I had the entire front bumper resprayed at one point and the paint meter didn't lie.
I'm the guy who told him about the tow hook plate holder. I took the time to remember the company's name, Google them and cut and paste the link in a reply. Sounds to me like he tried to get the hook from the dealer and they told him they had it. Funny thing is I have to repair my bumper anyways at some point because it has a small dent and chipping.
I know how easy it is to get very annoyed with poor service more over the principal of it than the dollars. I would have had the same WTHF reaction too. H stands for Holy...
I'm reeling from some poor service (a Denver indie) too on a different matter, so I feel your pain.

An ultrasonic technique is used when measuring the thickness of paint over non-metal substrates such as plastic and fiberglass. The probe of the instrument contains an ultrasonic transducer that sends a pulse through the coating. The pulse reflects back from the substrate to the transducer and is converted into a high frequency electrical signal that is analyzed to determine coating thickness. In some circumstances, individual layers in a multi-layer system can be measured.

I am assuming that they do. They are around $1800, which might sound like a lot, but some standard paint meters can cost that much if not more. It wouldn't surprise me if the higher end car dealers, that have state of the art paint facilities, would have such a device. But I'm just guessing.
since you are getting a new front bumper which will be painted right before it is installed be very careful.
A freshly painted bumper will get much more rock chips then a bumper that you get on a brand new car.
The paint on a new car gets atleast a month or 2 ( not sure exactly) to cure. Meaning the paint hardens.
A freshly painted bumper, repainted or not has very soft paint. unless u let it sit in your garage for a few months for it to harden, the rocks that hit it will chip the paint much easier.
A professional clear bra installer will tell you that he doesnt want to install a clear bra on a freshly painted bumper. He will suggest waiting atleast a few months before applying. ( pretty sure this has to do with taking the clear bra off down the road and installing another) again not sure.
So If you ask me your in a little bit of a pickle. yes you did get a freshly painted bumper with no drill marks, but you also run the risk of it not matching your car, the body shop will tell you that since your paint is old you might need to "blend" the bumper into the hood and front Q_panels..
So think long and hard before having them install the front bumper. there are other things to take into consideration if you want your car to look original because there is a very slim chance that your car will come out looking more than 90%.
I might be wrong somewhere but this is what I have gathered from my past experiences.
Hope this helps

i understand the op's frustration but i just dont see how a new bumper is a victory, to say your upset because they immediately offered to fix it and you didn't like there tone so you will punish them by making them by a new bumper that devalues your car?? the color wont be perfect and when you go to sell the car the new owner or dealer will not want to hear that it was just because of 2 holes. FYI im a gm of a car dealership and if it was me i would have had them plug it and tried to get a maintenance plan or a extended warrantee out of them. Just seems your hurting your self to prove a point to them.

He's made his decision and I bet he will be good with it. Since it's black, he may not have a problem.
Just bought a Cayenne S from HBL, and dealing with the sales team was absolutely amazing...they went above and beyond, especially my sales person Dan!
Service however, ehhh....took them 4 trys to program my new key on 4 different visits before their machine "worked" or "germany's system was running again". If they did something to your car that wasn't asked for, then they should cooperate. Until then (or even for next time), you should get 2 earth magnets, and use that to stick the plates on the front. Or a folding license plate that hides underneath the car. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/atta...etractable.jpg
