Best Car Cover For Indoor Winter Storage?
Best Car Cover For Indoor Winter Storage?
What is the best way to cover a 997.2 TT in a heated home garage? The electric heater generates fine dust which I'd like to keep away from the car. I've heard covering the car with 2 joined king size 100% sheets is an option. I am wondering if king size microfiber sheets might be better? What is the finest available cover to use that won't scratch the paint?
Thanks

The finest available cover is the one Porsche sells for $350-$500. It's the only one my detailer would let put on my car. You can find it on the Porsche accessory website. It is a lot like the high-end covers the DuPont Registry sells. I think they all have them made at the same place; Ferarri, Lamborginni etc.
You can also put a heavier cover over top of it, which I do, to provide some padding against your wife's car door, or her loading and unloading her car next to yours. Just sayin.

go to california car cover and pick up their indoor cover. they have the best stuff.
while sheets etc won't hurt and is cheap, it still looks a bit ghetto. a proper custom fit cover will hug your car so any dust won't get into the paint.
otherwise, just get a duster.

Try this:

It also depends on how particular you are about your paint, and what touches it. It sounds like you are looking for the "A" answer, and this is it.

I am using the Porsche cover stated in previous posts and I love it. I use mine in an apartment complex (semi open to the outside) and next to NYC, so I get the dust and black soot in droves and it has worked great. As far as I know with sheets, if they are cotton, they can scratch the paint.
Bought mine on eBay from this guy, it is a real genuine Porsche cover, the best you can find for your car and it fits like a glove!

I have an indoor cover from California car covers and its great. It fits like a glove and has a soft lining. The only complaint I have is that when I take it off it leaves a little lint on the paint which means I have to wipe it down with detail spray and microfiber towel.

Thank you shtfrbrains, djantlive, 512bb, Carlitos way, Sobrut 911 for Great suggestions. I will go with the nice Porsche cover; I just hope that it has room for the regular Turbo wing.
I think that the high-end car detailers are the authority on what to let touch your paint. That is why I went with the most expensive cover, offered by the manufacturer. I wasn't looking to spend $350 (on sale) on a cover, but when my detailer saw what I was about to cover my car with ($150 custom car cover which I thought was cool), he made an on-the-spot correction, and told me what I needed. My car is also black, and Porsche paint is relatively soft, so ANYTHING shows up on the clear coat. If your car is silver or white you can get away with a lot more inattention.
Glad to help! On the bright side, those expensive factory covers are sexy as hell.
I don't know anything about the outdoor cover. If you are keeping your car outside and hope to keep it nice, you have your work cut out for you.
I keep it indoors but I bought the outdoor cover for the extra padding. I've yet to use it because I'm afraid it'll leave scratches.
Guys, forgot to ask, where can I find high quality seat covers for the "comfort type" seats? I've been using black 100% bath towel and it's always falling off. I'd like to protect the leather as much as possible.
