Isn't that amazing? Despite how terrific a car that the 996TT is that, something as cosmetic headlights would make a difference. I wonder if they will someday be the slant noses of recent times and have a huge revitalization. For now they make the best value in a high performance car to modded for the track and pushed to crazy HP numbers.

I agree I don't think that the 996, because of that is a good analogy to the 997TT prices.

I personally hate the looks of the 991 and think it's gotten to the point of absurd with the size of a new 911.

To me, the 997 is perfect. GT1 proven rock solid block, looks to kill (as far as a Porsche can) and with some mods it's just phenomenal. In the long run I think the 997s will dip then rebound. Biggest problem is that they made so many of them compared to say the 993s.

I think there will be a major rebound for all 996/7TT with the Mezger engine. It may take some time before people realize this is a real classic in the making. I will hang on to mine even if I want to buy something else....and frankly, the 991 does not give me the warm and fuzzies .. AT ALL. Now, if they would produce a 991 replacement (2+2) with a diesel mid-ships and NO electric nannies, motors, *****'s etc .. I might look at that one for sure.

the 991 will force 997tt prices lower.

Most guys buying new porsches these days dont give a hoot or even know re: mezger etc.

they just want the most buttons and electronic aids to drive the car for them.

Sad, but true.

TTPop... so why would you want a Porsche ? Just buy a video game and "pipe" any sound in you want for 50 bucks instead. Oh and you won't get any tickets either!! Really sad for sure. Soon nobody knows how to drive a stick shift either!

Sound Symposer -

The latter, incidentally, is augmented by a new “Sound Symposer” somewhat similar to the sound tube used in the current BMW Z4. An acoustic tube runs from the intake pipe to the rear parcel shelf and has a simple membrane in it that vibrates in concert with intake pulses. The membrane merely amplifies these pulses for the cabin, and a valve in the intake activates the Symposer when you push the standard Sport button. It does indeed wake up the engine’s voice, while the new Carrera’s improved sound insulation more effectively dampens road noise.

Agreed - As great as the GT1 engine is I don't think it's really going to hold the prices up.

997.2 TT's are dipping below 100K already.

Manheim shows 2007 TT's sold at auction for average between $56 and $66K from 10/4 thru 12/5/12 - low was $49,600 (22K miles) and high was $77K (8K miles).

Current 2007 wholesale is $64K - retail is $73K (23K miles)

Of course they will fall. Will they fall more than they are normally? I don't know and I don't think anybody else does either really. It doesn't really matter because it shouldn't be that much of a change. IF you go by the prices in the black book, kelley blue book, NADA, the auction guide "Manheim" they go up and down from one month to another. I bought mine and the prices went up the next month. It doesn't really make sense to me. Search until you find one you like and buy it. My choice was the 09 because it was the newest one I could buy outright and not feel guilty ;-). I also like the "idea" of the mezger engine. I don't know if I will ever really tear into the engine for super high horsepower but you never know. The comment about 993TT and 996TT is totally wrong. I have seen locally 996tt go from 25000 to 49000. The 993tt in good shape go for over 65000 every time and most in the 80s. I personally like the look of the 993tt but my '09 drives alot better.

Used Porsche prices usually takes a gradual, predictable depreciation. It should not matter too much whether a brand new ground-up model is coming out. There usually is a sizable jump in the price of the brand new model so that negates any of the effects the brand new model will have on the price of the older cars.

Pretty broad statement. First generalizing, this is '10-13's. Checking this very frequently, I saw one '10 drop below $100k for a week. Virtually every other car is listed for over $110, generally about $115. Of course they are dropping, cars don't appreciate. Anyway, a used '13 is still $140+.
As mentioned before, the .1 turbos are in a really different market than a new 991TT.

I would go farther and say the 997.1 market is different from either the 991 or the 997.2 market.
Clearly, the clean, low mile .1 cars are still commanding a premium. (The exemptions being the heavily modded frankenturbos.)
Will they ever be relative to a 993tt in value, possibly, but they will hold their value better than either the .2 or the 991ttt 5-10 yrs down the line. Jmo

a car such as the gt2rs i could see holding value very well.. especially as its the gt1 block! all other variants i can foresee typical depreciation..

i just love how the 2rs used the 3.6 over the 3.8..

im hoping to pick up a 2007 turbo pretty soon
