Do you like it better than your catless Europipe? Any sound clips of the CG race?

Cargraphic Export (loud version), EP1 and EP2 all incredible choices. And good info from everyone above on the (slight) sound differences between the three.

I just wish these were not so much more expensive than any other option out there. But saying that, you do get what you pay for. Zero regrets.

With regard to exhaust sound the emphasis with our Europipe is on tone quality and not on loudness.

Although the title of this YouTube says TechArt exhaust, it actually is a Europipe with TechArt tips.

EP1 or EP2? If EP2, will the Techart tips fit? Thanks.

if those are standard techart tips then it is probably the EP1, the EP2 requires larger diameter tips

plinc is infamous around these parts
After digging through this forum I had decided on EP. I hadn't heard a GMG exhaust before and as luck would have it the Turbo I bought came with one. I LOVE it though admittedly my gf thinks it's a bit too loud for long trips. To each their own.

I took this quick shot with my phone, warmed up (oil ~200 deg), and rev'd to about 3k-3500-ish.

EP2 with modified TechArt tips. The TechArt tips are very high quality and they are so big ( wide ) that they hardly fit the plastic inserts. As the EP2 is 3 inch / 76mm we have to modify the TechArt tips from 60mm to 76mm as well. I've added an extra 76mm hole so that it looks less fake.

Note that there are no exhaust clamps between the tips and the muffler. I have to weld the tips to the muffler, no adjustments here. Has to be done at our shop.

Thanks Stef - I thought the car sounded like EP2 and was wondering if you modified the tips and you've answered my question. If only it were a short drive from Texas to Belgium

You have to understand that 997.2TT dfi engine is much quieter then 997.1TT. For 997.2TT to me my Europipe sounds the best. It also sounds very similar to a Europipe on 997.1TT. 997.2TT Cargrpahic with its valve control system sounds nothing like the Cargraphic Loud on 997.1TT
If I had a 997.1TT I would ask Stef to build me a Stage 2 Catless Europipe. Unfortunatly there's no Stage 2 for my car. I actually wish it was a bit louder and I don't have cats. Maybe once I get a tune that will change.

Also, for a 200K car I don't think spending 6K is too much. Once you see the build quality of the Europipe you will really see how it puts the Cargraphic to shame.

The cg loud will drone like mad.
When I rode in a car with one, I couldn't wait to get out. Headache factory. Probably the worst, most nonporsche sounding exhaust I've ever heard.
On the other hand, the tuv version sounds better, slight drone.
Ep1 is the best of the presently available systems.

Agreed. When my car was new, $5000 exhaust for a 150,000 car was acceptable.

Now as a 4 y/o car at 80000 or so, I do hesitate to spend that much. I would like to see competition to lower cost. Another exhaust that I have been curious about is FVD. I would like to take a listen one of these days. Is it true FVD undercuts both Cargraphic and EP by around $US 1000-2000? (Anyone please correct as needed.) Does the current FVD exhaust use Emitec Core/HJS Cat like OEM or Cargraphic, and is it made in Europe, not outsourced?

This thing is underneath the car, outside/cosmetic appearance means very little to me, once I have been assured of a record of reliability. IMHO there has been never been any convincing evidence that FVD or any particular *well known* exhaust on this forum breaks down sooner than any nicer looking counterparts.

Sure. This is why my recurrent message has always been that there is *never* a single best exhaust on the market. Based on loudness alone, there could never be. As much as I love the sound of my Cargraphic Loud, a perfect combination of aggressive sound at WOT and a menacing low rumbling at at low RPM, I don't claim it to be the best for everyone.

Sound quality and sound quantity (loudness) are intensely personal choices; I cringe whenever I hear anyone advises "get x/y/z, it's the best." Listen in person; with your own ears; ignore youtube videos, is the one recommendation that has stood the test of time for me. Oh and ignore forum opinion/post that sounds nutty/weird too.
