Can you tell me which cables you had to adopt to get the pcm3 work?

I want a pcm3 as the pcm2.1 looks terrible and if possible with usb for mp3. Phone or Bose would be nice, but i think i wouldnt get it work.
You can do it - and get all those options, I have nav, bluetooth phone and iPod interface. I did it using a Bose amp. I don't see why you couldn't use the same - provided your speakers are compatible.

I know Iandiman has an ASK amp for his conversion as his car is not Bose, so you could use an ASK amp out of a 997.2 car with PCM 3 and without BOSE - if you look back through the thread you will see Iandimans pics of the ASK amp he has bought.

I bought and modified this cable for the interface between my old PCM2.1 connectors - the quadlock end goes straight into PCM 3:

Can i ask you some question regarding the cables/how i have to pin them to get it work?

Would be great, that people in europe see it's possible to retrofit a pcm3

Yes, but better you obtain the schematics and you will see where the wires need to go. This is the official Porsche site for all data, I got my diagrams through here - they cost 8 euros each:

If you PM me a will forward you any other documentation I have.

This is what the above 'linked to' loom looks like after selecting the two correct connectors for the old PCM2.1 connectors and the new quadlock for the PCM3 and re-wiring it with the correct pin-out

This is the re-pinning of the old Bose amp connector as the pinout is different for the new amp - also the wire colours are different - the 997.1 amp also uses a large connector and a small one with 3 wires in - the 997.2 amp just uses the one large connector - same as the old one - but it includes the 3 wires in it from the separate plug - all this becomes clear when you study the schematics.

Thanks again Serg, yes the traffic info function works over here in the PCM3, and we also have a 7 digit postcode in UK and the latest software and maps which I now have on the unit enables this feature to work. Everything is working, really pleased - just got to install the new mics in the steering column and the iPod/usb interface into the arm rest - Ive got the parts on order for later this week.

The only really outstanding unresolved issue, that I have not yet worked out a solution for is getting the AC controller to trigger the compressor - but I haven't given up!

That looks great. - Congratulation.

Your AC doesnt work with the new unit?

Can you tell me if it is true, that the pcm3 has no code (as e.g. audi navigation units have for installation)

Hey Monster1,

A fellow UK (new) member here and i'm well impressed with your efforts! (and the guys beforehand who had the ***** to have a go)

Do you reckon this could be done with the ability to revert back to factory without splicing wires sockets etc?

I've got a 2007 997tt with Bose and I'd love a go at this if it was something that could be reversed if needed.

I have not yet been able to get the 997.2 AC controls to turn on my AC compressor - all the other functions on the unit work, except for AC. Not sure yet how to get this to work.

PCM3 has no code for installation - if you install one, it will turn on and the radio and CD will work - but you need activation codes to release the nav, bluetooth, phone, iPod/usb functions etc
