New GMG Suspension and Alignment
New GMG Suspension and Alignment
I just got the car back from Porsche with GMG springs and sway bars fitted. Sits great on the road (See picture), and initial thoughts on the ride is that it is a lot less floaty with PASM in the soft setting. The ride is smooth over small undulations and stiffer over the harsher bumps. The sway bars are set to the middle, and the body roll has been significantly reduced. The alignment has been done to Cannaga's specifications (Thanks Can), and it is now very difficult to get understeer. You really have to drive it wrong to push the front. With PASM in the harder setting the car feels like it dampens the bumps smoother. With the standard springs it was bouncy and harsh on the sharper bumps.
Thanks to Fabryce @ GMG for getting the parts to me so quickly, so I can hit the track tomorrow.

Nicely done. I just installed the GMG springs as well and I'm very happy so far
How aggressive are the alignment specs you used and do you expect uneven tire wear ?
I'm debating which alignment specs to use
Thanks

No not too aggressive. Cans settings are below. Must have to help with the nasty understeer of the standard setup.
0.2 cross camber in the rear and the toe doesn't match up as well as it could. Did they run out of adjustment in the rear? Where I take my car they wouldn't let me leave until those numbers are closer.
The thumbnail is actually Cannaga's report I believe, which I used as a guide. My alignment figures where matching on either side.
Who set your car up? PRT or Porsche?

I usually go to PCW for servicing but for track alignment set ups it'd be PCSS or PRT only. These guys know their stuff.
Hmm. Interesting. I think PCP would be OK for the spring installs and a stock alignment but I wasn't aware they had anyone clever enough out there for these special track alignments? They recently changed hands too i see.

Geoff, you're welcome. Your car looks fantastic and sounds like a great setup. I am not surprised at your reaction; I am always amazed how much our car's dynamics is transformed with change in spring rates.
I'm sure you already know but just a repeat of what my tuner always tells me; take it easy these first few weeks with the stiffer suspension (get familiarized before you push it to limits - I know it's hard not to
). Good luck and have fun.
