997 Turbo pricing

Thoughts on the prices of 997 turbos. Will they take another hit this Fall or has the large hit already taken place? I'm in the market for one, so I want to know when would be a good time to buy.

When you get the answer for that question ask that person whomever it is when I should get back into AAPL. JK. Who knows. Since there could be hundreds of variables (answers) to that question, don't worry about the price right now. First find one you like. Regardless, one thing is guaranteed. By the time you park it in your garage for the first time it will be worth less whether you buy it today, tomorrow, a week from today, or a year from now. It's a mass produced car. But if you do buy one enjoy it

I appreciate the response, but it's not the stock market (I'm an equity research analyst). I thought when a new version of any car comes out, the old version takes a hit. Now is it before it comes out, after it comes out or ? I did see one I like but it's $129,900 (CPO) and it's a 2010 loaded but very low mileage, so I think that's crazy high. I thought maybe in September (other than typical depreciation by September) they may go down because the 991 is released. I just didn't want to buy it now o find out in September it takes a $20K hit.

A ' 10 for $130k is going to take a huge hit. A .1 will be in much better shape since it is in a different price range. Why would someone pay that much for a car when the newer model will sell for a nominal difference in payment? You will generally find that the most expensive cars can suffer the biggest depreciation losses.

The 991TT is supposed to be released in the Fall from what I've read. Generally speaking the previous generation cars take a hit when a new one is released. However, the MSRP of the new one will be much higher compared to the 997 cars, so I think 997TT prices will not fall dramatically. The other thing is that 996TT prices are so low and that would keep 997TT prices a little higher.

And oh yeah, buy AAPL.

130K for a fully loaded '10 right now is WAY overpriced. I picked mine up in November for 118K CPO'd till 2016 with only 13K on the odo.

the 09s didnt take a big hit when the 991's came out... with the msrp being so much higher, it seemed as if the 09's actually got MORE expensive. a 10 for 130? you can get an 11 Turbo S for that

The 991 turbo is due to come with a major upward price ticket compared to 997.2 so that should help the existing market. I'm hearing a base in the 160's, add a few options and damn close to 185+ range.

Met someone last night who will be picking up a 991 TT and said 160 was where the dealer told him they'd start.

A 997 with a Mezger and a Manual will be a near-instant classic (like the 993t). Great looking car and always will be. Just keep it and add to the stable... I have nothing to base this on, but I see them bottoming out in the $50s-60's (condition/miles dependent), holding for a while, then climbing a bit. Depreciation curve is definitely better right now. The PCM can always be upgraded/modernized and the rest of the interior looks great....

These cars will just follow the regular old depreciation route, I dont see them taking any hit per se and my reasoning is the new one will be so much more expensive its going to reduce the speed of which the 997.1 depreciate if anything.

I have a fantastic 997.1 Turbo for sale if you're interested.
11k miles, fantastically cared for..

The older 997 Turbo's have taken their depreciation. I don't presume they will go down any lower because the $50k hit has already been absorbed.
And at the prices they're at now.... A good one is a great buy.

They will now only fall in value based on mileage not age.

And like previously stated, the 997 Turbo will enjoy more recognition and will continue to be desirable much like the 993 Turbo. They are great cars, fantastic looking and appreciated by enthusiasts and pedestrians alike. You can't judge what will happen to the 997 by looking at the 996.

It's a convertible and it's at Porsche of Scottsdale. It's a rare one with the ceramic brakes and RS Spyder wheels and 14,622 miles but still very high priced to me, so I passed on it.
