But it is the only one available in the car and it would be a solution for member mikestyle.
The only drawback I see is that the lights would come on sooner as the sensor is hidden from direct daylight. Not a big deal imo.
My solution is to have DRL turned on. On my car the only lights not turned on with DRL activated are the instrument lights - everything else (headlamps, side markers, tail lights) come on when I start the car. Since my headlamp switch is off the instrument lights don't come on unless I turn the switch - darkness reminds me.

Good and safe solution !!
So mikestyle can do the same and all is well, or am I missing something ?
Is it programmed with Piwis or can you turn DRL on with PCM ?

Not sure - Canadian DRL setup may be different (but he said car was a US import). Mine is a 2008 Turbo with Sport Chrono and that's how I turn DRL on/off, using the options on the Individual Memory menu of the PCM. I've had other 997's (2006 and 2007) and I don't remember all the lights being on with DRL set to on. I bought the 2008 used two years ago and that's the way it was setup so I don't know if this was a special setup by the dealer or not. Anyway, I like my setup - I never have to remember to turn on/off the headlamps, only the dash lights...and it's pretty evident at night when they are off.

Well yes I can control my DRL through the pcm. However even with DRL enabled the dash lights (not gauge cluster) only come on when you use the switch. Thus you still have to use the stupid switch no matter what!

If anyone is genius enough to make the headlights work when the gauge cluster comes on! I will give them my kidney!!!!

The important thing is that the exterior lights are on - you can tell very easily at dusk that the interior dash lights need to be switched on...not that big a deal.

You are right... However personally I don't look it as a safety feature, I look at is as a convenience feature on a 150K Car.

Well. I finally got her home last night. I don't know if it is buyer remorse but I am just not giddy with excitement. I don't regret it but just not totally in love yet. Doesn't help that the previous owner(s) chipped the drivers door edge and then proceeded to sand it down to smooth it out, but ended up going down to bare metal . I've applied some wax until I get the dr. Color chip kit to touch it up. Other than that, the body is clean. Some "if I only knew"

1. The noise on the highway is crasy. It has the super sports with good tread life. I was checking the net last night and others have complained and took the steps to dynamat the rear. If anyone here as done it please let me know if you have any DIY pictures or steps.

2. I know cabs are notorious for blind spots but the 997 is crasy.

More to come. Hopefully not!

Wow! Hope it's buyers remorse. I spent $60k more on a used turbo than any car previous and still fell/stayed in love from beginning through now. This was also inspite of a crapy purchase experience and not having a mechanic within 3hrs to work on it 😃
