yup
rye is absolutely right.
Cannga, i meant to thank you for the treads you started. i looked through your thread about buying the perfect 997 ( i made sure to get pccb's and adaptive seats )
i also read your thread about re-11's and comparing them to other tires, as well as the weight of each tire.
the mpsc is the lightest, probably the grippiest, but is SO damn expensive relative to how long they last.

theyre 19x 9 and 19x 12 chamption rs171

FYI: CMS RS171 are 8.5x19 and 11.5x19

I have had MPSCUP's and MSPCUP's N Spec...they run wide and IMO would be too much tire in the size you would like to run on your RS171's. Meaning they would balloon out from your rims and you would have a ton of side flex and rollover.

PS: MPSCUP's life expectancy, confirmed at 2K or less!!!!

^^^ Are you sure about the widths???? RS98 come in 9's and 12's not too sure about RS171's. MS61's are 9's and 12's and are magnesium = $10K! So I guess you would definitely know if you had those!!!!! : )

For reference below are images of 305/30/19 CUP tires on 12 wheels inch wheel compared to RE-11 305/30/19 on 11.5 RS171's:

Spacers screwed into the backs? All four wheel or just the fronts?

You might want to contact Tom at Champion to confirm what wheels you actually have....now I'm totally confused....

Hey Steve you are welcome. Yea PCCB is a bucket list item and getting it used is fantastic (I am still smarting from the 10k I spent LOL.). I am certain you know already but just in case, be careful with PCCB at the track; some poeple think big red is safer at the track for cost reason. The traction control system and the fact that PCCB doesn't give fading warning when over-heated could cause costly damage: Driver doesn't know to pull over to give brake a rest and it's the over-heated pad that causes damage to the disc, is one of the explanations. There are a number of posts on this both here and rennlist.

Re. Toyo Roxes R888, I don't have any experience but they are well known among track junkies and I have not read anything negative about them either. If I were to try R comp again, these would be the ones, mainly because of the more reasonable cost.

I believe TPC Racing, who of course knows about racing, uses Toyo Roxes R888 on their tuned and very fast 997 Turbo.

Of course I just now saw VID's wheel pictures and noticed his car has the yellow brake; and since he seems to spend more time at the track than anyone here and seems to take the car to such outlandish (a complement ) cornering speed there, I would assume he has some experience/advice to share.

I replaced my ceramic rotors within the first year of ownership. I have been running AP Racing CUP rotors ever since with Pagid RS19 pads and Endless brake fluid.

As for tire options...I hate to throw this out there....BUT...Dunlop recently release there Sport Maxx Race DOT tire which have a UTQG rating of 80AA A in 997.1/.2 sizing!!!

Steve- do you have track experience? If if not then having a good street tire will allow you to progress into the sport. Not speaking form experience but from others involved in the sport. I'm on MPSS, thought about swapping them out for upcoming DE but decided to hold off until I get faster.

I've been in a R888 equipped car on the track and grip is scary good, of course relative to a 180-300 treadwear street tire.

As for PCCBS- agree with Can and Vid take em off, mine are going in the attic next week.

Vid is right. Our RS171 was only ever made in 19x8.5 and 19x11.5.

We did, however, make the MS61, which has an almost identical design, but was made out of forged Magnesium. Those wheels came only in 19x9.0 and 19x12.0.

The easiest way to tell is to look at the inner barrel of the wheel directly opposite the valve stem, as indicated in my pic below. That stamping will have the width and offset of the wheels. All of our wheels have this stamping unless they've been repainted or refinished and it's covered up. Or you could just email me a couple pics...there are some minor differences between the two wheels that I would recognize from the front.

If you bought MS61's used for RS171 prices...then YES, you scored BIGTIME!!

tom there was a marking on the wheels with 61.
i initally thought they were bootleg champions (thats when i called you on monday).
but they weighed less than the rs171's, AND the sizes were 9 and 12
they came off a TPC racing gt2.

i scored a set of PERFECT magnesiums for $750.
now the question is.. do i run them on the street with r888's ? or will they brake ?

btw, the wheels were silver, but were repainted black. i will try to sand the paint off (the wheels are being repainted dark bronze anyway) for final confirmation
but theyre definately 19x9 and 19x12. and are the lightest set of wheels i have ever lifted.
