GT3 shifter vs OEM SSK

Guys - know this has been discussed a bit and I've read through the past posts but wanted to ask if there were any other opinions out there.

I need to decide on this by tomorrow AM as my car is already in the shop. I have the OEM SSK in hand. Know some have found it a bit too notchy where the GT3 is smoother.

I have the carrerra RS shifter in my 993 and it's very notchy but I don't really mind it. Of course I don't drive my 993 as aggressively as I do my 997 tt.

Should I just put the OEM SSK in or should I opt for the GT3 shifter?

I had the ssk in my old 997tt and never found it notchy. The big advantage of the gt3 shifter is that it's all metal, slightly longer throw.

Mine has the factory ssk. It is not notchy at all. I was totally surprised. It is pretty heavy, very short throws, and it feels like you are rowing through a metal gated Ferrari gear box! By notchy, I would mean that you occasionally grind into a gear, usually second. Never happens with mine. It can be a bit stiff to engage first before it is warm, but it is never annoying.

I can tell you that the crappy tranny in my M3 would grind into second all the time. People in the M3 forum would suggest that I would need to learn to drive! I sold the car and got one with a decent tranny instead.

colonel is infamous around these parts
Agreed. My previous 997 c2s factory SSK is not notchy either. Great shifter. I had BMW before also. It was much better than BMW.
