Both sides of the fence here.

Every time I see one... I've had the same thought, to switch from my 997 to a 993 Turbo. It's just a fantastic piece of machinery, a pure classic car...
A real manly-man car!

I should clarify my original comment, of the three 997 turbos I've had, the most soul-less one was the 997.2tts PDK, by far. The 997.1 tt cars are not nearly as numb and are probably a lot more like the 993tt.
DD is a whole different deal, 997 by a wide margin over my 993.
The continuum;
SOUL-930-959-964-993--997.1....tts....991tts-NO SOUL.
Yes, I skipped the 996!

^I agree with you for the most part. I have had the higher HP 996tt and 997tt, IMO those are feel heavy and are boring to drive, I never felt involved with the car and to be honest I could careless if I drove them or my Rover SC.

However, everytime I have owned a 930/965/993 turbos I look for a reason to drive them, to each there own.

I will say this tho, the water cooled cars are great but I doubt very seriously that in 10 years there will be a chase to buy one and be "collectible", nothing special about them, so many made, etc
