Thinking selling for a 993 Turbo
I have been thinking lately of selling my 997 Turbo for a 993 Turbo which are appreciating and then if I miss it buying another 997 Turbo later when they have dropped in value. Anyone do this or thought through it already?

I am back in the air cooled 993tt, my 3rd one now and am staying in it, exhilarating to drive and lets face it, nothing has the sexiness of the 930, 965 & 993 turbo cars

agreed, the new turbos take the fun out of driving

more refined, yes it is. if you are into driving and what the 911 is all about the 993/965/930 is more pure, period!

You can't really compare both in my opinion. I have a 997TT and a 930T. 2 completely different cars and both, in their own way, give me a very different satisfaction when I drive them. Best of both worlds is to have both. They are not interchangeable in my opinion. With that said, I would love to add a 993TT to the stable.

Same here, I have both, a 964 Turbo and a 997 TT and I will take the former over the later, any time and all the time.
Just today, I wanted to take the 997 out but kids insisted on taking the 964 'coz they wanted to hear the burbling sound on deceleration
I use the 964 as a toy (keeps you on the edge, screaming engine, the leather smell and the engine/exhaust note) and 997 as a DD (comfy, luxurious and fast)
Still if I have to pick one, it would have to be the '964 TT
Not sure if I answered your question though

well i am lucky as well
have an 87 930 slant (my good friend's prior ride) and an 08 997TT
not comparable cars, completely different
the 930 is to be blunt scary, like having contraband compared to the 997
i love them both, rather than eliminate one i would love to add a 964 or 993 turbo to the stable
i just cant get over the 993tt prices...my friend had a 97, $100g sticker when he bought it new...same car today is 70ish...not bad for depreciation!

But times have changed and unless it were used as a nostaligic Sunday drive car I would want something fun but modern .
In fact I walked into the dealership last week to consider a 991 . I wrestled with not wanting to lose my Turbo so i backed away from ordering a 991tt . I considered a 991S but the idea of having two 911 cars justs seemed like a silly repeat of when I had two 997 cars . Nonethess I was ready to consider it mostly because I was bored with my DD .. the M3 .
Then I test drove the new Boxster S and i got to say that it is an abolute blast !! Forget anything about the previous Boxsters (which BTW were very nice cars ... but NOT like this ) and drive one. The improvements in this new car are (IMO) amazing !!!
It is a pure mid engine roadster which has such balance , great technology, suprisingly nice with the top up , and beautifully sounding with the PSE option (highly recommended) . It's fast enough to be fun and agile enough that it adds another dimension of driving flavor to the car you already have . Top up is civiized and top down becomes thrilling . The cabin door sills are the perfect height to work in combination with the wind deflector to give the ideal breeze for no roof drives.
You may still want a 993 turbo .. but i don't .

At least it went to a good home.

Sold my 993 to get back into my 3rd 997 turbo. No comparison.
Time will tell but 997 turbo mezger manual will be among the most collectable cars.
People who look at production numbers should realize 997 turbo was mostly produced in tiptronic, I believe it was around 60/40 in favor of tip, maybe even more.
Deduct those and you are left with a much much smaller basket.
And what about 'soul' and 'pure' ? Well that comes with age it seems. It is something that is earned once the cars are no longer available and hard to find used in good condition. Than they start to develop 'soul' and become 'pure'.
I am old enough to remember all the comments when the 964 came on the market. Nothing was pure about that car when it came out. It was a new car and the die hards spit it out. These same die hards call it 'pure with a lot of soul' today. Funny how it goes. In 15 years the 997 turbo will be so 'pure' and have so much 'soul' people could drown in it.
