Motor oil Filler

This is gonna be one of those stupid questions. In the manual, it shows the oil filler cap on the left hand side of the engine bay. It states that you rotate the cap left and pull out the oil filler neck to get proper access to the filler opening.

On my car. 2008 turbo cab. The oil filler cap is on the right side of the engine bay and turning the filler cap left just undoes (is that a word?) it. There does not appear to be way to release the neck. So, just used a funnel to get good non spill access.

Is there something that I am missing?
