Opticoat clear coat

Hi everyone. I am going to professionally detail my car. The company offerred me the option of adding a Opticoat clear coat which is a high silica-content glass coating applied in a thin layer as a liquid and cured leaving a hardened glass barrier lasting 18-24 months without the need to wax. Pics of high end cars on this stuff was stunning, mirror like and the company called detail maniacs in Sacramento has a great reputation. Anyone used this clear coat before?

I had my turbo detailed last October and had opti-coat 2 applied to the roof. I did the roof as a test panel to see how it would hold up and if it was worth doing the entire car next time around.

Been nearly a year and it looks great. I will definitely consider doing the entire car next year. Just make sure you have a pro with lots of experience apply the coating.

Quick note, the opti-coat is crystal clear and hard, but it is not scratch proof. If you care for it properly it will last quite a while, however if you wash and dry improperly you will introduce swirls and mar the opti-coat same as you would the factory clear coat. So if you invest in the opti-coat also invest in proper wash tools and properly wash and dry the car to minimize surface scratches

Good luck

I had this put on my AMG ~5 years ago. It is still holding up strong, like when I first got it. I highly endorse OptiCoat based on my experience with it, and it was one of my first priorities once I got my 997TTS. Do make sure you have an experienced installer/applicator...it does take some finesse and experience to get it right, esp the Pro version (vs the stuff they sell to the general population).
