Dealer installed new PSS, Scratched all 4 wheels.

I went ahead and decided to replace my worn out PS2's. Had the Dealer order new PSS's. Dropped off to have them installed, picked up the next day. Checked the car over. Knelt down to check out the new treads, unfortunately was met with everyone's worst nightmare, scuffed/scratched wheels! I was extremely dissapointed, the wheels were in Showroom condition when dropped off, no curb rash, chips, etc... Left Rear was the worst. 2-3 Lines that ran 3/4 of the perimeter of the rim. and the other 3 wheels had anywhere form 3-12" of scratches that ran the perimeter of the polished face of the wheel close to the lip. Drove the car their the next day to have the Service Rep. look at the damage himself and was surprised/shocked on what happened. He said they will take care of it and have the dealers "Wheel Guy" Repair them. I am currently waiting for them to call me and have the car picked up. My question is how is this "Wheel Guy" going to repair them? Paint? Polish? I can't see how he can just polish them when some of the scratches are felt by dragging your fingernail across the surface. Sand through them then polish?

Machined faced wheels are tough to repair. I would wait to see what the wheel guy has to say about them.

I had the same impression. I won't accept a sub-par attempt/work. I just hoped they would of got it right the 1st time. Looks like the tech placed the outside wheel face down on the machine.

I had a similar experience with my local Porsche Dealer. First they said it was not caused by them (Service Manager), then they offered to repair all 4 by a local wheel repair shop and guaranteed my satisfaction. After completion they were not acceptable. Sanded and polished with no longer having definite edges. I refused them and filed two complaints. One with Calif Bureau of Automotive Repair (B.A.R.) and one with Porsche. Porsche did nothing. The B.A.R. was quick with their work!!! As it turned out the dealer General Manager stepped in immediately when hearing of the complaints filed and replaced all four wheels.
Now I only use a performance tire shop for tire replacement.
I recommend you demand replacement. Small Claims is always a final option if Fla does not have a B.A.R.

That shouldn't happen at a gas station, let alone a dealer. However, I've had worse fixed perfectly, depends on the wheel guy.

Be careful that "wheel guy" does not match silver paint to the machined finish and then blend it and clear over it. Looks ok from about 6 feet but you will never be happy especially since you will notice it every time you look close. Demand replacement, live with it, or have them professionally redone. Sorry, been there done that with an AMG wheel on a benz.

A top notch experienced pro should be able to make that right - I've seen a lot worse, but I've seen good work done by these guys too. Good luck, glad they did not shy away.

I bought a set of used wheels that were refinished like that. At first they look fine, even from a few feet away, but they were actually painted silver along the edge. Don't know how you repair them polished, must be possible but also must be tough.

While they can be fixed/repaired, polished wheels are extremely hard to match. If you are not happy, then simply ask for a replacement.
That sucks, regardless...

A good wheel repair guy should be able to fix that with no problem. I have seen some truly thrashed wheels come out looking brand new.

Or.....get a cash reimbursement to get new wheels, then use your oem as track wheels and get some nice champion or hre wheels, win-win.
