I am curious as to where the turbo psshhhhht! Sound emanates from? I read exhaust post regarding increase turbo spooling sound with a swap out to A free flowing exhaust. Does that mean that exhaust resonates the sound coming from the turbo itself? Just curious to know.

 

Obviously, the Turbo itself makes the sound. Things that typically affect the sound you hear are the intake and the exhaust. So you are likely hearing the turbos spool primarily through the exhaust, but also some sound can be heard through the intake system...Exhaust changes seem to make the most difference in what you hear, while intake changes are marginal in the sound effects.

Get an EP2 exhaust, BMC air filter and you will wonder why it took soo long to make that decision. You also could also reprogram the ECU which will also help but cost more (in sound terms) for the dollar.

 

You'll hear the turbo whistling sound at low rpm and midrange once you're making turbo boost. Here it is on an EP1.
