I work with a shop here in NorCal that removes my race exhaust, installs my OEM system, gets it smogged, brings it back to the shop and re-installs the race system for under $400 USD. I drop it off around 10:30 AM and pick it up at 2:00 PM the same day....its a no brainer.

Crazy numbers...obviously they just didn't want to be bothered with such a simple task.

And I thought I was slacker on this! You need to talk with your dealer! My times were based off of Steph's instructions (Thanks for the EP2 and detailed instructions on how to install BTW) and pre planning. Give me a car lift (Maxx Jaxx) and I could easily knock off 1 1/2 hour. Install and remove? You should be congratulating your dealer for being so efficient and on top of one issue. Best I have heard at Porsche so far.

^^^ No Stealership here....this is a Indy Shop. The smog shop is in the same complex. So they just drive it a few doors down with the rear clip off and get it smogged. Bring it back to their shop and put everything back together as a it was when I dropped it off. They even store my OEM exhaust system for me.

I don't have that kind of treatment around here. My exhaust is in my basement with my extra rims and tires.

Quote: So how many hours of labor was in the written estimate? What do they get there? Equivalent of $500/hr???
They didnt break the labour cost down, but they charge $300/h so I guess they want 10h for this.

May be they are dropping the engine to change the exhaust. It might be a good idea to get your coolant lines pinned/plugs changed or any other engine out service at the same time
My dealer charges around $300 to swap out the exhaust, if that helps?

Labor rate here at Austin dealer just bumped up to $147/hour. So who gets the premium in Sweden - worker or government programs?

Well labour tax starts at 30% and reaches 57% and the employer pays an additional 20-30% tax...

And the $320/h includes sales tax which is 25% here as well.

Come on guys. It comes with a deep tissue massage by a Swedish hottie in the customer service lounge. While your baby is getting its pipe change, YOUR pipes are getting cleaned. I'd pay that!

So the labor is more than the exhaust itself?
