Well, I drove the GTS and an '09 turbo back to back, also a new Cayman S with PDK. While the PDK was way more fun than I thought it would be, still liked the manual better. However, no further questions about which car. The turbo was like no other. And... it made my 930 seem tame in comparison. So, next question: '07, '08 or '09? Other than miles, any significant difference? Is an '09 worth the $15K or so difference from an '07?
Thanks for the advice.

Well, is it worth the $15k difference to get an '09 instead of an '07? Yes.
In other terms, the '09 is 2 years newer and the typical depreciation difference of 2 years is worth at least that much. Chances are you will pay a greater difference than that for comparable cars. However, there is no difference in motor or suspension, so you are only paying for gadgets. Get whatever you can afford. For me, it was any '07-09. There aren't that many cars around, so compromising for an '08 instead of an '09 isn't a big sacrifice.

The '09 has the touch screen PCM. Offers iPod interface and sat radio. Coolest change I thought was ventilated seats. However, I learned that ventilated seats are only available with sport manual or power seats - not on the sport adaptives. Sport adaptives can come with heated seats, but not with the ventilation. Don't know why, but that's the way it is.

Good luck in the hunt!

No way is athe crappy PCM 3.0 or seats worth 15k. For 2k you can get a pretty sick radio setup, and the other 13 can be used for mods that will make you forget all about vented seats. And not to offend but after purchase value is not something that should be considered with cars unless you are buying a collectible. These are modern cars we are talking about. They lose value. There is not enough differences in the 07-09 for someone to think, I NEED to tell people of these two cars that look the same mine had more value because it hasnt depreciated as fast yet

I really recommend the 997tt. It has all you could want in performance and enjoyment. The only change I am going to do is to upgrade the radio/nav when my CPO expires in another year.

So far I'm not a fan of the PDK...I think the system is a little "loose and sloppy". My only comparison is the Getrag DCT in my M3 which is so much more engaging, crisper, etc and blips/rev matches on certain settings which is terrific at the track. And even at 20 ms shifts, you still "feel" it through your fingers and body. It's amazing. The PDK on the other hand feels EXACTLY like the old 6speed auto tranny in my 335 (I think made by ZF) with steering wheel paddle shifters. I'd swear there is torque converter in the PDK if I didn't know better. Perhaps there's some software and different steering wheel paddles for the PDK to quicken the engagement between paddle shift and actual transmission shift? Until then I actually find myself driving in automatic mode. On my M3 however, I'm always in manual mode - it's that fun.

Now one thing I do like about the PDK is launching. Holy crap it's terrific.

Anyway, didn't mean to continue to make this a PDK vs manual trans debate but wanted to post my 2cents as others have recommended the PDK which I am not really fond of.

Good luck OP with your search.

I'd go with the 09 if you can afford it...you can't take your $$ with you when you die.
