Anyone repaint entire car?
By the time a person has paid for 2 wrap jobs, they have nearly paid for an entire paint job. At least that was my thinking, but painting is sounding like more of a pain than I figured.
So for now I'll just enjoy the car and stop thinking about my distaste for black paint.
I think the hardest part you will encounter (wrapping your car yourself) is where to artfully place any seems. Your hood will be easy. But the wing and front bumper will require some skill.
It's not that I don't like it, if looks great. It's more that I don't like black paint anymore. I'll never own a black/dark car again. I really like how this white looks, but realistically a vinyl wrap isn't going to last more that 2 years (guesstimate).

Agreed on the curvature of this car. I did the front bumper in one piece for practice and drove myself crazy with where to cut and shrink. Result was nice after all the sweat and complaining. Heat is the key (not too much though.)
I'm in the same boat but, I would like something more exotic such as orange. That is what I have planned for this winter.

Techart type 2 front, sides and wing. I like the front a lot, it has a carbon fiber lip.
You could also leave certain parts unwrapped as accents, since the car is black. I left the side mirrors black and the area behind the door handles. The mirrors would have has too many seems anyway, and I like the accent they provide being black.
Orange with black interior would like great. Mine is satin, not matte. I would suggest looking into satin. Matte is too obviously vinyl. Every time I stop for gas I get people coming over to gawk and ask questions.

3M has a glossy type 1080 wrap and that is what I plan on doing. It has the shine that a normal paint job has but isn't paint.
Before dumping too much though, if white is the color of choice I would look at trade in or sale as white is much easier to come by than Orange. Personal Opinion though.
Well you have done a very nice job on your car. This is why people come to you when you are getting gas. 3M has a glossy type 1080 wrap and that is what I plan on doing. No not in person. It has an obvious satin finish. I just meant, personally I don't think matte vinyl looks as good as at least a satin, if not gloss.
I have seen a spray coat Plastidip on you tube but still cringe on that theory. Overspray?? Does the 1080 chip very easily? I would like to place the 3mm coat on the car prior to the track. Just toss the material on and not worry about creases as it would just be a protective layer.
Hey I wouldn't need the tape on the headlights!
I have had the 1080 carbon fiber wrap on my hood and mirrors and it has lasted over a 1/2 a year.

So far the 1080 seems pretty resilient. I think the 3M clear would be a good idea for track. Especially if you can do it yourself. (From a cost perspective)
Yes, just throw it on and throw it away.
Not sure on your street situation though. Cosmetics make the car and to wrap it with something not cosmetic would be crazy if you are looking for glossy.
I guess the question may lay in 3M's hand, can the 1080 be clear coated?
Nice! Have you done this? This may be the missing link to your repainting the complete car.
Cheaper and to the point.
