gt2 rs intercooler is leaking.

guys,
my driver side intercooler is leaking. noticed it yesterday (there was a bit of oil residue on the bottom part of the ic. right at the end tank.

why did this happen ? is this a common occurrence ? design flaw ?
whats next ? replacement or is there a fix ?

Hello Steve,

i have seen this problem even with the new ones from the dealer.

Its a common problem as i see since 2 years.

You have to play end tank clips to fix it.

Unfortunately its not unheard of and the cooler will have to come out. Once its out, pull the tank by prying up the remaining tabs. Inspect the integrity of the rubber gasket. If its good, clean everything and reassemble and bend the tabs back down with channel lock pliers. Apply Araldite 2011 as depicted below and you've now bonded the tank to the core. I'd recommend doing all 4 end tanks while you're in there.

Is this recommended for all used gt2rs ICs? I'm asking because I just bought used one off of 2011 turbo S and they look like new.

^ My thoughts exactly! If they're off the car, I'd do it. I got my araldite from skygeek.com

And thanks to petezhn for testing and recommending the araldite.
