Hasanyone encountered this and how'd you fix it?

The left and right brake lights don'tlight up (and there's a check message on the dash). The left went out first then 2 days later theright went out.

I've tried to correct this seeminglysimple problem, but......
- Tail lights work and brake filamentscheck out fine. Bulb is dual filament.
- Spoiler brake light still lights upwhen braking.
- I used an ohm meter on the brake lightswitch (under the brake pedal) and it checks out fine.
- I checked the brake light fuse and itis fine (plus the tail light still lights up).
- electrical contacts at bulb are clean.

I'm not sure how these could cause this,but the only things different as of late are:
- weather was freezing
- Topped up the power steeringPentosin. Closed the lid with a smallslam.
- Topped up the brake fluid.

Any ideas on what to check next? Thanks in advance

I'm assuming OEM lights? If so, it would be pretty inexpensive to replace the brake light bulbs with new and see if that helps. 997.1 uses P21/4W - here's one of many places to source:

 

yes, oem lights. I've tried new (tested) replacement bulbs and that doesn't work either.

 

Have you checked to see if you are getting power at the bulb socket?

 

Yes, there is power at the socket as the tail light lights up, but no power on the brake side. The socket uses a dual filament tail light / brake light bulb. I am perplexed and will try to find a wiring diagram. Maybe there is another switch somewhere.
