997.2 Turbo S GIAC - 10.668 @ 130.27
Hi guys...just wanted to clarify a couple things. Longboarder's car only has the GIAC stage 1 software at this time...so realistically, he's probably putting down somewhere between 50-70 more HP to the wheels then stock at this time. It takes A LOT of hp to lose a tenth here and there once you get into the 10's in the 1/4 miles...so being his first time really doing it, I think his results are promising.
The real improvement will be when he steps up to the Stage 2 software and gets another 100 or so HP to the wheels....
Our in-house car went 9's on stock turbos. And so no one thinks there was some special magic sauce in that car, here's a video of a customer in New York running 10.1 in a cabriolet (about 350 lbs heavier) and on street tires.

Hi nice run and good number but what are the upgrade you have done on it?!
Being that it's a PDK and a turbo S( bigger turbos ) to start with I'm not surprised. Take away the auto and put it in a non S and your .8 second slower. Thus, many fail to see that that it's also the oem hardware that really matters.
Good numbers. Looking forward to some 9s

Hey Mark, so you referenced a larger turbo for the S. I'm curious if you are referencing a comparison of the 997.2 Turbo vs the Turbo S?
I heard from GIAC that the heads on the Turbo S are different (allow for more flow) which is why in their experience, a tuned Turbo S on their Mustang Dyno will make higher numbers than a tuned Turbo (because if they are the same except for the factory tune, then an aftermarket tune should have put them on level ground).
So are the turbos on the Turbo S also different than those on the base Turbo?
Thx.
Are the two different numbers indicative of two different parts?
I confirmed with BBI that the motors are identical, however the turbos are not the same.
More flow more power pure and simple.
Which is why non S turbos never run as good. Then a gt2 is even in a different league of it's own due to weight reduction and less rotating mass

The two different part numbers are because there are two turbos, left and right.
997.2 Turbo : 9A1 123 013 75 and 9A1 123 014 74
And while we're there
997 GT2 and GT2 RS : 997 123 077 73 and 997 123 078 73
997.1 Turbo : 997 123 013 76 and 997 123 014 76
Looks like it's the GT2 that has bigger turbos (and both reg. GT2 and RS have the same).
At the time the video was taken it had basically the same setup as our shop car. That includes the GIAC flash, Tubi race exhaust, IPD plenum, BMC filter, and our intercoolers.
We're in the process of swapping all the parts onto the owner's new car which is a coupe. We then might add a few other tricks and see what it can really do...stay tuned.

I like the way this 997.2 tts in the video sounds, more specifically, I like that you can here the turbo spool very clearly. I have the same care but, bone stock. If I were just to get the tubi race exhaust alone would that be enough to get the same sound as the one in this video?
Now, there is one caveat. If you were to run the Race exhaust without engine programming, there's a 50/50 chance that you'll run into issues with the CEL coming on. The only real way to cure that is to flash it with our performance software as well.
