997.2 Turbo S GIAC - 10.668 @ 130.27
997.2 Turbo S GIAC - 10.668 @ 130.27
I'm no drag racer...but a buddy of mine did a private track rental at Famoso in Bakersfield, CA.
I started the day running with my rear tires at 44psi and with PSM on. Couldn't break into the 10's after 9 tries.
Austin from GIAC was there and had me lower rear tire pressure to 30, turned off PSM and rely entirely on LC in Sport Plus with the computer shifting all gears for me. Viola...6 passes in a row in the 10's with a best of 10.668 @ 130.27.
EDIT: Can't get the time slips to show very well. Did a couple 104.6's in the 1/8th mile which I thought was pretty good. Just need to get an exhaust and intercoolers to get some more top end
If I had MIR or ATCO DA's of -3,000 the traps would have been a couple MPH higher. Also, I was hotlapping the whole day. If I were taking it easy on the runs and in better conditions there's a 132 in there. Also, my 60 foot times weren't that great. Car was spinning and I had to fight it from going sideways. Definitely left a couple tenths on the table.
Here's my stats - car 477:

I'm actually disappointed to read this. My Turbo S with no tune, no plenum, street tires at 44psi ran a 10.75@129.2 and another guy ran a 10.69@129.8. Mine was at Great Lakes Dragaway and it was +800 DA and the other guy was at Cecil County but not sure of his DA.
I wonder if the tune and plenum actually does anything? I don't care about dyno numbers. Thanks for posting. Until you post a 10.2 or 10.3, I've decided I'm not getting a tune.

It's also depends on how well the track is prepped too.

Thanks. Tires are Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

The tune and plenum do nothing. Neither does exhaust, or upgraded turbos.
The fact that I ran very close to a with a full bolt on upgraded turbo e85 tuned 997.1 putting 700 to the wheels in run #13 in my Airstrip races a few weeks ago was just pure luck:

Hey Ken, tires were spinning for a bit. Maybe 20-50 yards down the track. Was a fight to keep it straight! I'm sure that negatively affected my traps by a lot. With DR's, this thing has a mid-low 10 second run in it easy as my 60-foot times were poor.
Temps were low 60's but Austin's DA reader had the track surface a few degrees warmer than that. It read +1,500 ft. most of the day. But in my first post I posted the DA as reported on Drag Times which was +500.
The real improvement will be when he steps up to the Stage 2 software and gets another 100 or so HP to the wheels....

Our in-house car went 9's on stock turbos. And so no one thinks there was some special magic sauce in that car, here's a video of a customer in New York running 10.1 in a cabriolet (about 350 lbs heavier) and on street tires.

You can also confirm this with anyone whose driven a GIAC flashed 997.2 Turbo or Turbo S versus a stock one, but the results are incredibly noticeable. You can bet if people weren't satisfied with it, they'd be using the 30 day money-back that we offer. Something we've haven't had to do yet.
At the time the video was taken it had basically the same setup as our shop car. That includes the GIAC flash, Tubi race exhaust, IPD plenum, BMC filter, and our intercoolers.
We're in the process of swapping all the parts onto the owner's new car which is a coupe. We then might add a few other tricks and see what it can really do...stay tuned.

Tom,
What exactly does the stage 2 entail? Parts and cost?
Also, what boost pressures are you achieving on the stage 1 and stage 2 programs?
Thanks,
Walt

They're satin.
I almost hate to use the word "stage" because we don't really sell the flash that way, but I guess it does make it simpler. The "stage 2" software requires the IPD plenum, our intercoolers, along with the parts you probably already have from "stage 1" (i.e. cat-less exhaust, drop in filter). The stage 2 flash will run about 22psi on both pump and race gas. The stage 1 stops at about 18 psi.
