NoFlyZone Roll-On Acceleration Event - 997.2 Turbo S
NoFlyZone Roll-On Acceleration Event - 997.2 Turbo S
I attended the OmegaMotorsports NoFlyZone Roll-On event at Ft. Shafter Airstrip in Bakersfield, California this weekend. It was a great time. Rained a bit in the morning but cleared up just in time for the event, although the airstrip was a little wet in the early am. Didn't matter for the AWD cars
My car is a 997.2 Turbo S with an IPD Plenum and GIAC/Champion tune. I was running the race map with VP 100 octane.
Here's the result of all my runs. I ran against a couple other 997.1s - Run 8 vs kenromero and Run 13 vs twnturbo.

Hmmmmm. Says video does not exist. Weird. I'll try to figure out why but in the mean time here's a link to M3Post where it seems to work ok:

Adam, your car ran great! Do you think its slower or faster compared to your M3? With the cost of your current mods do you think you have received more power less expensively than what you experienced with the M3?
The GIAC group figured out, at the end of the day, the power problem I was experiencing. When I had a coolant leak checked out last Friday the technician did not reconnect one MAF sensor. Pleasantly enough I won 13 out of 13 races now I need to experience the difference with the ECU working correctly.

Glad you got everything figured out. Can't imagine how fast your car would be with it running 100%!
It's such a different power delivery but my guess is that the Turbo is faster than the M3 now in most conditions. On a very cold night, the M3 could be faster but not by much. In terms of $$$, I've spent $13K on the supercharger and $4K on a used titanium Akrapovic catless exhaust system on the M3 so bang for the buck goes to the Turbo for sure as I've spent around $4K total on the tune and plenum.
I think you have dome really well so far. I would venture to say that improvements from this point forward are going to be much more expensive with no way near the same percentage of power increase for the $.
My opinion is the mapping is the best bang for the buck.
I appreciate your desire to see proof of the power increase of the mods you are choosing!

WoW!! You won almost every race! Congrats, Adams car is making 700whp with all the VTG upgrades possible and you still won. I will be at the next event. We should get a race in if you have the full GIAC/Champion kit by then. What video editing software do you use to make the vids?

I don't know when the next roll-on event is but I just signed up for the Famoso private drag event on Dec 14th sponsored by my buddies at Team Spankin Time. Hopefully I'll be in the 10's just mashing the gas letting the computer shift in SportPlus!
The vid editing software I use is just the freeware that came with my Sony laptop. It's Windows Live Movie Maker. Super easy to use even for someone inept like me

Thanks yeah it was a 2013 E63 with just a RennTech tune. It's insanely fast for a 4-door 4,000lb sedan!
True statement. I wonder how it stacks up against a stock 2014 E63S w/ 4MATIC.
I think in a roll-on race like this with the same RennTech tune, a 2014 would actually be a little slower due to the weight. However from a dead stop a 2014 4MATIC would obviously be much faster than the 2013.
