ERP Triple carbon Clutch / GT2 master
I personally spoke to Carey last week in relation to this clutch. He is the designer/creator of this clutch and owner of ERP with another person.
He is currently testing another improvement to this clutch, that will take away that chatter and make the engagement smoother and a more even engagement in relation to the plates. He shared several things, most I don't know the technical side, but that was a simplistic explanation. The nice thing is, Carey from what I have been told by his friends and people in the race industry and talking to him myself is that he is always focusing on the next best thing to improve current products (this clutch). I'm positive these improvements will be available to current clients like yourself OP.

Nice, love to hear that they will improve even more on a product that is great. I love music and I have turned the radio off since the installation to share a even feedback.
Before the install, it was EP2 (awesome but could be louder.) Maybe this is my focus though. I am really looking for something.
When the noise comes from the rear of the center console without the Radio, it is noticeable. I am thinking of a situation that you may want to have a conversation inside the car without a distraction.
I drive the car alone for most of time so, its not an issue for me.
Elite, dont be concerned. i did a redline clutch dump ( i think uneven pavement was the reason the axle broke, because Tim did about 5-6 clutch dumps on my sticky toyo r888's and nothing happened)
let me know when youre in NY.

Steve K NY - Thanks for your input. I will try the 3K launch. With the new clutch, I notice that the shift are more rough. I am sure that this is due to the higher engagement that I haven't fully adapted to yet. I am confused though, I cant make the 1st gear launch yet, How a 2nd gear launch? Your axle breakage concerns me slightly. Maybe next time I fly to Melville, NY I can get a taxi near you to show me?

prodigymb - Love the GT2 conversion. This has given me a better feel of the clutch. It may take a lot of adjustment for someone that daily drives the car due to its heavy pedal but, I would compare the weight to an older V8 I had. I have the steel flywheel and haven't notice much change in RPM drop. I was expecting this though due to the weight change. I agree with you on the wait that I had, this clutch is made to last, I just hope that it wasn't installed backwards though. Sayajin has me concerned.
i doubt anything is installed backwards.

Casper, when did you have your clutch installed? You may have the older version that prodigymb mentioned.
prodigymb, did they change the design to remedy a potential issue with the clutch design which in turn, made it louder? (don't mean to make Casper paranoid with this question.)

In sport mode, it almost disappears. Next I will try the AC in sport mode and see if it reappears.
My GT2 is a complete build, I purchased the clutch in late 2011-early 2012. I do hope I can have my "old" unit rebuilt as I would rather not introduce annoying clatter. I am very surprised RPS hasnt made a move to correct the clatter issue; in my Corvette I had installed their (no longer on the website) low weight triple carbon, it had near zero clatter.

Additionally, about 2 months ago they actually came up with a prototype design that was supposed to reduce some of the noise AND increase drivability, however decided to go back to the drawing board when one of the testers had slipping issues.
With that said, the noise is noticeable, but definitely not a deal breaker. If you have the radio on you dont really hear it at all.

Finally had a chance to drive the car.
Sayajin is right about the clutch making noise with the clutch out. This only happens when sport mode is off.
With sport mode on there is no noise. When the clutch is depressed, there is a slight noise of disc sliding together. I wouldn't describe the noise as chatter though.
Drivability feels much better now. (Don't know if this is the "break in.") I find myself giving more gas during engagement to somewhat launch the car forward. You can start moving forward with just releasing the clutch slowly. There is no “On, Off” feel although, Engagement distance is shortened.
I did Valet the car on Thursday night and the Valet guy killed it, then just decided to park the car in front instead of in the garage.

Additionally, you'll get the Valet thing often. My alignment guy can't even get the damn thing on the rack, he has me pull it off and on. I normally just explain to the valet guy its a special "race" clutch and ask them to let me park it up front.

Quick piece of Advice, Per Rob @ RPS you SHOULD use the clutch as on/off (or as close to that as reasonably possible). From what he tells me, during NORMAL driving, you don't want to slip the clutch for extended periods of time. Something about the clutch plates heating up too rapidly and possibly screwing the clutch up. He told me several stories of guys who ruined their clutch simply by trying to load it onto a trailer or driving up a long driveway and such. In reality, you do of course have to slip the clutch a bit with daily driving to get the damn thing going, but I try to limit it as much as possible.
I find this very hard to believe. This is developed to be a street clutch and take a HUGE amount of abuse at the same extent. Carey the developer when I was talking with him about testing his new model said nothing of the sort, in fact the exact opposite.
I know Steve K on here slips the crap out of his and he drives his car daily as a street car and puts on a good amount of miles compared to the average porsche owner.
