Chrono question
Chrono question
Do you know if cars without a chrono have this placeholder pad or does it mean that my car had the chrono and the previous owner removed it. Any help is much appreciated.
+1. Looks like it was removed and patched up. Can't figure out why someone would do this.
Looks like a delete...Soemone did not like the "Dash Wart"....Or replaced dash with Chrono version on a car without Sport Chrono...and just patched the whole.
It would be difficult to just cover the Chrono and not have all sorts of other issues, settings to change, modules to update etc...It is not just a dash clock

Either it broke and the dealer covered it while it was being fixed and you are just screwing around or what the hell did you get yourself into.
Cars without sport chrono came with a solid dash no hole covered up.
Maybe the guy was too cheap to replace it when it broke, it was stolen or the guy raced the car and took it out to save weight and when they put the car back together they lost it. But the car could always be a salvaged title car that has had the title washed and while it was sitting at the yard someone stole it because they thought it was cool.
Does it have the sport button and can you access the digital info from the stalk.

It's a patch job. If you look in the center console, do you see a Sport button? Also, if you look at the settings of the car (small stalk on the left), you can go through and see if there is an option you can pick for the chronometer?
One thing you should definitely do, is ask someone (dealer/indy) to check your cars options to see if it came with one and to also go through the PIWIS or Durametric to see if there are any error codes as you just can't disconnect the chrono, it spits out error codes and if I remember correctly it will do funky things with the PASM (I think).

Or it still may be there just relocated somewhere under the dash. When I supercharged my 06 C4S I replaced the chrono with a boost gauge and simply relocated the Chrono under the dash but still plugged in. For some reason this guy might have wanted a flatter dash look and moved it? (Although since it was not replaced with something else, that is probably remote.)
Can you remove that cover and take a look inside the hole to see where the wires are and if they lead to a chrono?

I knew chrono was an option but didn't know the stopwatch only came in cars equipped with chrono package
Most 997s have this option as I noticed all the ones I been looking at had it

Yep. Part of the option. Most cars have it-like the Bose stereo option.
What a minute, you bought the car like that?
