Definetly... Black... Contrasts are very noticeable and look good on our Porches.... "Once you go black you don't go back"...

Black, but I would go with a powder coated finish. Gloss black only looks good when it's very clean.

Silver very classy. Black wheels always looked like they had brake dust all over them to me.

Thank you. Plus its stuck in my head from the fast and furious days where the kiddies that couldnt swing wheels would roll on steels till walmart got their rims in.

Isn't it great that there's absolutely no agreement on what looks best. If we all agreed our cars would tend to look the same, very boring….

About 20 years ago I was living in Capitola and Bruce Canepa had his shop a few miles from my house in Santa Cruz. My father came up from LA and wanted to check out his shop and have him upgrade his Yukon so it could tow his 911 race car. He had about 10 959's that he had been buying from around the world to update and sell. He had a couple a couple finished with updated electronics, turbo, exhausts, suspensions, the works. They all had their rims painted Satin Platinum. Now Porsche is doing that on the 991's and I think that looks great. Just test drove a 991S with aerokit and platinum painted rims, looked great.

Thanks everybody for the terrific input!

One thing that I've noticed after a few days of living with the black gloss wheels is that the carbon ceramic brakes/yellow calipers stand out a lot more. In addition, the Ohlins yellow coils (which are very close to the same color as the calipers) are visible immediately with the black wheels. I personally love the look of the brakes more than love the look of the wheels...and now being able to somewhat see the suspension is a bonus...so I think I've made my decision....Black gloss for now.

+1

Definitely a subjective thing and I agree with the comment above. if you're intentions are to hide the detail of the wheel...black is not a bad option. It works on certain cars where the wheel has no depth or concavity. e.g. lotus elise or exige

550Bryan also presented a good example with the gray/gunmetal color. It's dark to the point where there is noticeable contrast yet light enough to show the detail of the wheel.

That being said if anyone is interested in some black techarts with ps2's feel free to throw me an offer.
