Power steering lines leaking

Found out that my supply and return power steering lines are leaking at the crimp near where they install into the reservoir. Unlike the 996 models the 997 are a complete line that runs from the reservoir all the way under the driver side seat area to a coupling.

Part #,s 997 347 439 52 147, 997 347 44551 181.

I am being told that they might have to drop the engine in order to replace them? Has anyone dealt with this before ?

So its true, in order to replace the power steering lines on a 997 Turbo you have to drop the engine. WTF ???? The lines run on the right side of the engine, cross the back of it then down along driver side before it hooks to its first coupling.

Engine is pulled going to have these installed while its out, http://www.sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=394

I recently had a leak in my power steering return line where it goes into the reservoir. I only have the one line now as i am running a gt2 slave. Anyway, i cut my line, and then fitted a #8 AN push lock fitting into the line, then tapped the reservoir with a 1/4 NPT #8 fitting. Stopped the leak and solved my problem. Let me know if you want a picture

While my engine is out also replacing the 8 coolant fittings that are know to be loose and cause major coolant leaks. My mechanic said 2 of the fittings pulled out very easy.

In one of the pics you can see the power steering lines that has been replaced.

This is the problem with them, I am getting mine welded in.

This may have been a blessing to repair now instead of when a huge blow out happened.

New fittings I am having welded in not JB weld.
