Q&A - FVD Germany

Hey Guys,

i just called FVD Germany yesterday as i wanted to sort out some
questions before flashing the software.
i thought you might be interested in this aswell so here are my questions and answeres from FVD:

Q: my car is not CPO'd yet as i have to own the car for at least 3 months in order to get the warranty.
they'll do their 111points-check and a compression test, however i want to install the tuning now.
are there any risks for the tune to be detected in this 111p check ?

A: as long as you flash it back to stock, you'll be fine.

Q: you are raising the rev-limiter with your flash, will this result in range 4+ over-revs?

A: the over-rev ranges will be adapted to the tuning. your limiter as well as the over-rev ranges will be raised 200rpm.
you can also decide to raise the rev-limiter 200rpm and the over rev ranges by 400rpm if you want to. various combinations can be done.

Q: how much boost will the car be running with your tune?

A: you will see 1.3 bar peak and will drop to 1.1 bar at redline.

Q: i bought the 82mm Plenum + TB aswell but wont install it right away. do i need a new flash for this mod?

A: let us know when mailing your oem-file that you will install it. we will write the flash with this mod in mind so you
won't have to reflash the car.

i also wrote a mail to IPD and asked for an installation manual. got this reply from Greg:

"Greetings Luke,
This might sound crazy, but we don't have any official installation guides for the Turbo Plenums.
Even though the Plenums are an R & R (Remove & Reinstall) procedure we don't want DIY customers attempting the installations themselves.
The Turbo Plenums have a number of vaccum and boost hoses that are very critical and can easily become disconnected by customer who are not familiar with the Turbo engines.
The entire procedure sould take a qualified Porsche technician about 3-4 hours.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns."

that's a bit sad as there are no tuning shops in my area that are familiar with Porsche and i can't take the car to
the dealer for this install.
the DIY here on the forum gives a bit of an idea on how to do it, but i wouldn't call it a manual.
i have a lot of confidence in my mechanic but a manual would still be great. any idea where to get one?

cheers,
Luke

What kind of backwards bs is that? Last time I took my car to a shop (who is an IPD dealer), they didn't reconnect my intercooler hoses properly after changing my exhaust and they blew off a few miles down the road. Seems very stupid to assume that every corner of the world has a competent p-car shop nearby.

Thanks for the update. Couple of questions for you. How long from when you ordered to when you received the software tool? How long did they say the file would take to create?

Please let us know your thoughts on the tune once you install it (hopefully soon!)

it took one week to receive the tool.
and for the file...i think you'll get it the same day you send yours.
i'm planning to do some videos in every gear before and after the tune.

still looking for an IPD installation guide/manual.

cheers,
Luke
