997.1 turbo Rattling sound at rear
That would be RPM related, but it's not. It is load dependent, only happens when the car is making near peak torque and the engine moves around in the mount.
Just went back to stock exhaust w heat shields from my Kline.
Rattle and Noise is back, I am sure it's the heat shields of the oem system.
As soon as car had some warranty work I will replace oem rattle with Kline singing

Well, we're talking about three different things in one thread, but I just put RSS engine mounts on my car this afternoon and it did NOT solve the problem. If anything it is louder now. Not sure where to go from here.
You don't need the heat shields with the Kline exhaust?
Admittedly I have not looked at the stock exhaust, hence the question. Are the shields part of the OEM exhaust or are they a separate piece?
Are the shields needed for aftermarket exhausts?
I too, have the rattle at under 2k rpm. It is annoying and a bit embarrassing to say the least.

This thread is a bit confusing for people who aren't sure of what all we are talking about. There's the normal, rattle that happens at low throttle and low load. Not a big deal.
What Rix and I are talking about now is something that is clearly not normal. Thanks for stating the obvious, lol. If you think it is bad in the video, you ought to hear it in person. It is not picked up by the microphone nearly as well as in person. It is a very alarming banging/popping sound that appears to happen to people who are making LOTS of torque (which is why I think the motor or drivetrain is torquing over and rubbing against something on the chassis). Rix is making near 700 wtq on the stock turbos as is my buddy with the 63.5 VTQ upgrade.

I think you guys are on the right track on it only happening to cars with high torque numbers. I have the APR tune which has one of the higher torque numbers compared to other tunes, and this only happened when I was running 100 octane map. Never did it on the 93 map. And it always made the sound when the car was in a heavy squat from the boost hit. Hope someone can figure out where the noise is coming from.
