Smile New owner, new memeber, and already looking at my first mod :)

Hello all,

Glad to have joined this wonderful comminuty. I just bought a used 2010 porsche 997 tubo, white on red interior. Will post pictures soon

I was looking at these day running light LED fog lights, however i was warned that installation on 2010+ could cause problems.

I like the ones in this link because they swtich to orange LED when u signal, then turb back to white when in normal driving.

What do you think?

I have these on mine and they look and work great for about 2 years now... Other than the usual Agency Power quality issues (Had to re-seal one as the casing can, and did come apart and gets moisture in it)...Pretty easy fix.

I DO NOT think they cause any other issues. You simply remove the front bumper cover and replace the existing harness with this one as a plug and play. One additional wire is used if you want them to be DRL (on with ignition).

The difference with 10 ^ cars is that the Fog lights are also on as DRL's. You can have the dealer, or if you have a Durametric Pro like the one I have, you can turn off that feature so the fogs are not always on Also...

I am pretty certain that is the only issue, but I am sure someone else will correct me if that is incorrect.

Good luck,
DC

Yeah i noticed the fog light always on as day running lights. So what is Durametric Pro? Would a general mechanic be able to help me with this? I would rather have the turn signal be turned on as a day running light, and have the fogs turned off.

I dont think dealership here deals with such after market accessories. Will probably have to do it somewehre else.

Any shop with PIWIS or PSTII tool or a Durmaetric Pro cable can turn it off. Indy shops that work on Porsches should have one of the above and be able to change the setting very cheaply....it takes 2 minutes....

Dealers will likely do it for you....not really considered AM....just tell them to turn of DRL feature..then put the lights on

Good luck.

BlueTurboS is infamous around these parts
I wouldn't spend $1000 on lights, but that's me. I'm not usually interested in mods like that, only ones that make the car go or stop faster! Either way, enjoy a great car.

Also...Here is a link to Durametric's site if you want to learn more about what that is:

Note that ONLY the Pro cable allows programming the car....

I've also had very good luck with Vivid Racing

http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/a...2-p-63681.html

You may be able to get slightly better pricing by giving them a call. It's worked for me in the past. My guess is everyone just E-Mails so its refreshing to hear the phone ring

Thank you for the wonderful links! Will savw me few hundred bucks

I knew there were cheaper ones, but they didnt give the same blinking effect! I wanted the ones that signal only orange (not orange white), then when stop blinking, go back to white.

Last link from maxspeed is not the effect i'm looking for

But great info and opinions. I will probably get the ones from vividracing or agency-power

The one's from Vivid and A/P are the same. They usually have quality issues (anything Vivid/A/P - same co.) but look OK when they are working.

Also they have some on eBay that appear to be the same and are closer to $600. If my Vivid/A/P screw up anymore I will likely try those.

Good luck..and post pics when you get them done!
