Antilaser vs. 9500Ci Laser
Bought ALP to Replace LI - beware of Bluetooth
I have purchased one of these systems to replace my LI gen8. I loved LI but I live in California and the CHP has been very aggressive trying new guns. I had emailed LI about how they were going to respond to the new "pulse" type of guns, it went unanswered. After checking on some forums it seems that Cliff is no longer with LI.
I am installing this is my BMW X6M and as anyone that has done a BMW install knows they are a pain in the *** to add anything to. One of things that seemed like a god send was the ability to mount the control unit in the engine compartment and with Bluetooth module attached you could do settings from a android phone.
My excitement was short lived, after watching the video on their page (http://www.alpupdate.com/Videos ALPConnect Review by Mirage 2014-09 at about 3:58) of the smart phone interface I decided I would not be comfortable using it:if the phone is not connected "it is like turning off ALP ". I consider this a design flaw, phone could die, you might get interference (if LEO figures this out they can take you out with a Bluetooth jammer). So for the time being I will use it hard wired.

I have the 9500ci and have been safe since installation in 2011. Knock on wood.
Escort is the leader and has been for decades. I'll stick with what works until I have credible info otherwise.
OP, if you post here it as much for you to learn as us. Withholding the vendor does not help us. if someone sells X and not Y they have an axe to grind. If they sell both they may still make more on one or the other.

I am real and not associated with any manufacturer or reseller, You can find many of my posts on BMW forums. I just received the system and did a search to if anyone else had run into the Bluetooth issue. I know this is mostly Porsche owners but when it comes to these type of systems I figured the information would be useful to anyone considering it. I found this forum when I did Google search.
Hope the info is helpful.

What's the upgrade? The only thing that "may" be better out there, but little data so far is the Net Radar from AL Priority. I have their laser jammers working with my 9500Ci and I have had excellent results. If I trade my car in, I may just leave the old units in their and start new.

I have had it for probably 5 years or more now. As you see in my signature, I have updated the laser jammers to AL Priority. I have had great success with it so no complaints at all. The only device which I see that "may" be better now is the new one from AL Priority called Net Radar, but there isn't a lot of data on it yet.

Wow that's interesting! Makes for a much cleaner install. I hope it preforms.
I have 2 switches, so that's not great, but they aren't big. I leave the AL laser jammers on all the time. I turn off the Passport 9500Ci radar when I'm driving around my area at times because it's jammed with traffic anyway and there are a lot of false signals. I have read that the reduction in false signals are the real difference in AL's Netradar and everybody else. Detailing Dynamics on LI stated that's the one they like now. They have the best laser jammer, so maybe they are now making the best radar detector.
those guys did my work originally, and i trust them 1000 percent.
Eddie and mat are amazing!
