Durametric Support...Really?

OK...So I bought a Pro Durametric and have been pleased with the product. The support...not so much.

At one point I changed a setting in my car to lock the doors automatically at > 5kmh (setting selection only 5kmh...no options on what speed)... This setting has options (ACTIVE)...or (INACTIVE)...pretty straightforward.

So I do not like the option, because I always have to pull the handle twice to open....So I decide to change it back. I change the setting to (INACTIVE)....and every time I start the car, to goes back to active??

I sent my question and attached screen capture to Durametric tech and cannot believe the response?? This seems simple...After $700 for a cable, I would expect more....But at any rate...anyone have any thoughts?

 Hi DC,

Thank you for contacting Durametric. Unfortunately, we do not know the procedure for making the changes you describe. The change might require another setting alteration, the lack of which returns the lock at >5kmh to the unwanted setting. You will likely need to refer to the service manual or another reputable source for details on making the change you want and the coding changes necessary.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Are you required to 'save' before you exit or anything like that?

it's funny because their response to why the coding feature is only available on the pro and not enthusiast is because the coding feature would require a lot more support from them. In this case, what support?

They would be better off putting that feature in all versions and having a separate "coding support" contract whereby you would pay, say annually for X amount of support tickets.

Hi...Yes, their software has the event "on Change" as the trigger event....So when you select anything different from the drop down box, the "on Change" event triggers the application to say "are you sure you want to store this new value"...And you have to affirmatively choose yes...then it auto saves real time.

For one of the modules ( I think Gateway, or Instrument Cluster) , when you are done making changes, you do have to go to the "Command" section and choose RESET ECU/DME...And the lights blink and it beeps. I have tried that also...It just is not writing, or if it is, it keeps switching back to active.

So I change it to INACTIVE.....Go off that module to another module...Come back to it, and it still shows INACTIVE as it should. After I cycle the key and reconnect...It is back to ACTIVE. Tried a dozen times in different order...no luck...

I was real enchanted with the answer from tech though. That was very helpful. I guess that means go to the dealer and use a PIWIS??

I could understand on some of the complex settings, but locking a door when the car drives seems remedial??

Hi..Thanks.

You pretty much have a process for connecting which requires the key in ON position. If you cycle the key at all while connected, the software disconnects and you have to start over. I am sure it is something quirky and eventually I will figure it out

For now, my solution was...I switched keys to my number two key ...as this feature is programmed per key...So key 2 amd 3 were still set to inactive...That was my easy/lazy/quick fix!

Well I think you solved your dilima. Maybe when you program that feature with dura it's available to use. But then you must program that feature thru pcm?
