Spark plug gap / plug brand and type on "higher boost" applications over 600hp?
Those of you who have higher boost applications on your TT:s, say more than a pipe and tune, which spark plug (NGK, DENSO,BOSCH?) and what model number are you using and what spark plug gap ? What are the recommendations from the tuners on the higher boost applications?
I am running the EVT 775 package with the updated coil packs and after recent plug change (under 1000kms), I am getting some misfire under full / semi full boost at 4000-6000rpm.
The code is P0003 (Durametric Pro) which indicates random / multiple misfires on multiple cylinders. This is coming up repeatedly under boost.
I assume this is quite much telling me that all the cylinders are acting wrong the same way.
At this point I am suspecting I may have wrong specced plugs / wrong gap

Bosch FR5 LDC / DENSO IK22 / BERU 14-FR5LDU =Preferably one step colder than stock.
But are you sure that the plugs are not loose? When installing new plugs you should torque them once, then loosen and retorque again.
I run the Denso Double Platinum PK20PR-P8 on my Evoms 775 set up. This was the plug recommended by Evolution and should be changed every 10,000 miles. Hopefully your problem is simply plug related but multiple misfires could be caused by a number of things. Good luck,
my tuner builds mega cars in excess of 1000 rwhp on a regular basis . he was dumbfounded that i had double platinum plugs.( i told him it was recommended by many on the forum) he said he would never use platinum plugs on a turbo car but rather copper which is the best conductor. yes they wear out fast but also 18$ a set vs 80$. gapped at .22 for a 700 rwhp application

I think it might be just plug related in my case as the symptoms came on after a plug change. Not instantly, but after 1000kms or so.
Otherwise the car is running perfectly fine.

Not too worried though as these engines have proven to be relatively tough and if the absolute worst should happen, there are many complete engines available from dismantled cars in Europe.

I would like to know why some "tunes" require aftermarket plugs, otherwise the car will not run as it should (misfire)???
This is a question I believe everyone should be asking, but no one is.
I would not recommend driving your car when it is misfiring unless you want to build a new engine.

My car had the OE Bosch plugs before installing the new NGK:s. It was seemingly a sort of a mistake as the situtiation got worse than with the worn out OE:s.
UPDATE: After data logging with Durametric today 12.4.2014, I found out that the misfires are ONLY actually in cylinder 2.
I gather it indicates an actual coil problem instead of fouling plugs.
I indeed hope so
It would be a quick and easy fix!
