Ignition

I have an 07 997tt. Sometimes I put the key in the ignition and it takes a minute before the car recognizes the key and the electrics light up and the starter hits. Presume this has happened to others. Perhaps battery in key dying? Remote lock/unlock works fine though.

Pls advise.

Battery in key is for the remote - has nothing to do with ignition recognizing the transponder chip in the key. Sounds like a a problem with the electronics around the ignition switch.

I've had this a few times. I stick the key in and turn and the electronics go off as if starting but the motor doesn't turn over. I turn off then turn on again and then it fires fine. Battery is full. Perhaps the ignition takes a moment to recognize the key chip. Not sure if I'm putting in the key and turning too fast......
