Nice DIY job on the bumper! Any tip on removing the bumper?

I saw the Rennline Youtube vids on the cutting the template for the grille and installing the mesh wire covers and figure I can probably handle that.

But taking off the bumper looks pretty involved (having to remove the front wheels...ect) based on the search I did. Any good Youtube link? Thanks.

I did it without removing the wheels, just cranking them side to side as needed. It wasn't difficult but probably 1000 screws. I found a step by step guide somewhere on here that I printed out in order to do it.

Also, I feel the Rennline template places the vent too low if placed as directed. I wound up placing it so there's only about 1/2" between hood and vent. This seemed to match the factory GT3 look a bit more.

Plastidip at first but after I used bug remover on it that screwed up the finish. What's on there now is flat black DuPont car interior spray paint...we'll see how well it holds up, but it seems pretty durable so far. They have a matte black bumper spray too...I would have used that but it wasn't in my garage when I felt inspired to redo it.

Does the vent actually flow air from the front of the car, or is it only cosmetic?

There's some internet fodder that it adds minimally to downforce. I did it for aesthetic reasons. On the GT2 and GT3 it flows air to the third radiator that those models have.

Agree with you. Thanks for that pointer.

OP: If there is a way to affix the grille to the bumper cover without the bracket kit sold by Rennline can the template be safely cut out without having to remove the entire bumper?

In other words, can the template be safely cut-out without having the jigsaw blade destroying anything vital underneath while the bumper remains installed ?

Thanks for your help in advance.

There may be a way to do it without the Rennline kit. I figured they already engineered the solution so I used them to save time trying to figure it out myself. The total cost with the mesh, vent, template, and kit was $225 which I felt was reasonable.

And no, in order to secure it, you need to remove the bumper.

It's not so much the cost as it is the bumper removal.

I was hoping I can safely cut-out the template without incurring any damage to the structures right below the bumper with the blade.

Once the hole is cut I can maybe glue/epoxy the grille to the bumper without the need for the brackets.

That's for sure taller than the OEM Gt2 wing. I am still on the fence about an OEM GT2 wing myself
